A few years ago, I had to make a decision. I could continue eating my favorite foods. Or, I could clean up my diet and enjoy better health.
I’d been living with painful nerve inflammation. At one point, I could barely walk. I did go gluten free. This helped a lot. But I still ate a lot of cheese, ice cream and pudding. Many alternative health experts believe that dairy is highly inflammatory.
I hated to give up milk, so I began making excuses. Then I had a cancer scare. No more excuses. Milk products had to go.
Nowadays, minus the milk, I’m feeling much better. I cook whole organic foods for my family. When I eat at a restaurant, I order the healthiest thing on the menu.
Alternative Treatment For Inflammation

It’s been a battle. But I think I’m winning. Right now, my pain is very minimal and I can walk again and lead a normal life. I decided to skip mainstream medical interventions, because I don’t want to take drugs for the rest of my life.
So, instead, I took an herbal anti-inflammatory formula called Zyflamend. Even though I like to switch up the therapies, this is the one thing I take pretty consistently. I do take occasional breaks, ranging from a few days to about a week. But I always return to Zyflamend.
I need to stress that I’m not claiming this is a miracle cure that will help anyone else but me. But Zyflamend is a very popular supplement, designed for a healthy immune response.
Everyone has some level of inflammation. Mine, however, is off the charts. So I have to work to keep it in check with a good diet and natural herbal supplements.
Please understand that I’m not a doctor. So I can’t give anyone else advice on how to treat excess inflammation with natural remedies. All I can do is share my own story of what I’ve used for my own pain and why. I took Zyflamend consistently for a couple of years. I’m not taking it at the moment, because it seems my body doesn’t need it anymore. So I take other natural remedies for inflammation. (I’m a big fan of constantly rotating herbs and essential oils, since they seem to work better that way.)
How to Treat Inflammation Naturally
Anyway, for whatever reason, my inflammatory response has shifted into high gear. So I have to find a way to modulate it. Zyflamend and a healthy diet were two of the the main things I used to stay on top on this problem, which appeared to develop more than 10 years ago. Or, at least that’s when I started to notice it. A nagging backache quickly turned into a bigger issue. Soon I couldn’t walk, and the pain also traveled to other parts of my body, including my knee, shoulder and wrists.
I am so thankful that God has provided us with so many natural remedies, so we can pick and choose ones that work well for us. In addition to Zyflamend, I take other herbs and use appropriate homeopathic remedies. Sleeping also used to be a problem. So at night, I use essential oils, which have helped tremendously. I’m so grateful I’ve regained my health.
Natural Remedies For Inflammation in the Body
Before I discuss some of the other natural remedies I’ve used, I need to talk about Zyflamend. This is a very popular natural remedy. I’m surprised everyone hasn’t heard about it. But a lot of people still haven’t.
It’s a blend of 10 whole herbs, something that seems to be increasingly difficult to find today. One controversial trend is to isolate individual plant-based components in a laboratory, which are then bottled and sold as herbs. However, the buyer isn’t always aware they’re not getting the whole plant, which likely has a wide range of other beneficial compounds that work together in a natural synergy.
Zyflamend has 10 high-potent whole herbs, which have traditionally been used for pain and stiffness. These include rosemary, turmeric, ginger, holy basil, green tea, hu zhang, Chinese goldthread, barberry, oregano and skullcap. Many of these same ingredients also have a reputation as being good for the immune system, as well as potentially containing mood-elevating agents.
Homeopathic Remedies For Inflammation
I’ve also taken a number of homeopathic remedies. These have helped immensely. But it’s been a slow process. Unless you are very familiar yourself with this amazing 200-year-old form of healing, you’ll need to work with a professional in order to get the best results.
I wish there were one specific homeopathic remedy for pain that I could tell you about. Single homeopathic remedies, of which there are hundreds, are prescribed in a highly individual manner. So what works well for one person probably won’t help another.
I’m really blessed to have found a wonderful homeopath. Unfortunately, these practitioners are few and far between. If you’re interested in finding a good homeopath, someone at your local health food store might be able to help.

Chiropractic Care Lower Back Pain
Even though I have nerve inflammation, it feels very much like joint pain. Chiropractic care is another healing method I’ve tried, when my pain traveled into my upper back. Even homeopathic remedies didn’t help.
But a really good chiropractor came to my rescue. It seems as if this way of healing is as much an art as a science. So you need to choose carefully. I went to a practitioner based upon the recommendation of a friend. He is highly respected in the community. After a few treatments, I started to see improvement. After eight treatments, he said I didn’t need to come back.
Herbal Teas For Inflammation
Sometimes, when I wasn’t taking Zyflamend, I made sure to drink herbal tea. The reason I take occasional breaks from Zyflamend, and use something different, is because I’ve noticed my natural remedies work better if I switch them around. That’s why I also drank tulsi tea with lavender.
Tulsi is also known as holy basil. It’s considered the “Queen of Herbs” in traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine. Modern herbalists classify tulsi as an adaptogen. This means it’s a plant that’s believed to be capable of mitigating the physical and emotional effects of stress.
Essential Oils Good For Inflammation
Many aromatic oils are believed to contain natural pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory compounds. However, one blend that I like to recommend, because I’ve it myself, is Plant Therapy Rapid Relief. This formula contains a blend of peppermint, clove, bay laurel, black pepper, cinnamon, ginger, German chamomile, juniper and thyme. It can be used for general aches and pains on the body, or for a headache. Just make sure to dilute it well in carrier oil before using.
Like my herbs, I also switch my oils around. Because I need to do constantly rotate, I’m using a cooling blend from another company at the moment. But I like Rapid Relief Synergy Blend a lot, and I can recommend this brand because I use it myself.
