Fibromyalgia is characterized by widespread pain, as well as fatigue, insomnia and mental fogginess.
I’m very familiar with all of these symptoms. That’s because I’ve been diagnosed with adrenal fatigue. Some holistic health experts believe these two conditions are one in the same. Or, at the very least, arising from a single cause.

Keep reading and I’ll tell you about the special essential oil blend that I use for pain. I’ll also share another recipe I’ve used when my nerve inflammation acts up.
Learning I had adrenal fatigue was no surprise. I already knew a lot about alternative medicine. The problem was that I didn’t put it into practice. I ate a lot of junk food. Also, I did nothing about a particularly stressful situation, other than deciding to live with it.
Then I developed pain, especially on the right side of my body. It kept me up at night. It prevented me from walking.
So I had to get serious about getting my health back. This required a big lifestyle change. My diet had to totally change and I had to do something about that stressful situation. I’m so grateful that I’ve recovered to the point where I can live a normal life, practically free of pain.

However, sometimes the pain returns. When it does, I’m ready. Instead of OTC pain medications, I a natural essential oil pain blend. This doesn’t have the side effects associated with NSAIDs. Also, at least for me, it works better than popping a pill. Rubbing a diluted aromatic recipe on the painful area brings fast relief.
Please understand that I’m not a doctor. So I can’t give medical advice. Also, I can’t promise that any recipe or particular product you may see on this site will help anyone else. I’m also not suggesting that any essential oil will treat or cure fibromyalgia. Instead, I’m just sharing information about what natural remedies help me. I hope my story of going from barely being able to function to leading a normal life again can inspire someone else.
I can tell you that I’ve thrown away every bottle of OTC drugs that used to be in my medicine cabinet. Now, essential oils are my first-line “go to” solution for pain control. If the pain is more intense, I use a homeopathic remedy.
Aromatherapy for Fibromyalgia
There are various aromatic pain blends available. If you don’t already own your own essential oils, you may want to consider a special blend made with multiple oils. This means you won’t have to buy nine or ten different kinds of essential oils. Instead, you can just buy one bottle. Aromatherapists believe that mixing oils together creates a synergy you won’t get with single oils.
The pain relief blend I use is called Rapid Relief. It’s made by Plant Therapy. I trust this brand because I know its oils are tested twice. (Once independently). I’ve been buying Plant Therapy products for years. They are highly regarded in the industry. World famous aromatherapy expert Robert Tisserand has also partnered with this company. Anyway, here’s one of my favorite Plant Therapy formulas.
Essential Oil Recipe for Fibromyalgia
If you already own a lot of essential oils, it’s also easy to make your own pain relief blend. Here’s a recipe using some of the most popular types of essential oils. Just like the Rapid Relief Synergy Blend, shown above, these aromatics need to be mixed with a carrier oil, such as olive oil, grapeseed oil or fractionated coconut oil. This is made from coconut oil, and is often used in aromatherapy because it’s less greasy and is easily absorbed.
Anyway, here is a DIY alternative to the synergy blend shown above.
2 tablespoons of carrier oil (Olive, grapeseed or fractionated coconut oil)
2 drops of peppermint oil (it’s available here)
2 drops of clove oil (it’s available here)
3 drops of myrrh essential oil (it’s available here)
1 drop of eucalyptus essential oil (it’s available here)
Mix these together. Use as needed for massage. Then store the remainder of this homemade blend in a clean glass jar in a cool dark place. Although it seems as if the ratio of aromatic to carrier oil is low, bear in mind that essential oils are highly concentrated. They can’t be applied to the skin unless they’re very diluted. Also, a carrier oil helps “carry” the healing compounds into your body.
Essential Oils for Fibromyalgia Pain
I’ve found that rotating my essential oils helps them to work better. For a long time, I used Rapid Relief. Then I temporarily switched to something else. For the moment, I’m using another formula called Nature’s Fusions Cooling Waters Anti-Inflammatory Blend. The company sent me the first shipment for free, so I could review it.
But this is something I’ll definitely order again, and pay for. I like having multiple pain blends in the house, so I can rotate.

Natural Relief for Fibromyalgia
I’ve found great relief from my fibromyalgia-like symptoms with essential oils and other natural remedies. One of these is a popular herbal formula called Zyflamend. Despite its pharmaceutical-sounding name, it’s not a drug. Instead, it’s a blend of 10 herbs, and it’s designed to curb excess inflammation naturally. Among its ingredients is tulsi, known as the “Queen of Herbs” in Ayurvedic medicine. You can read more about the benefits of Zyflamend here.
I’ve found that my natural remedies work better when I rotate them and avoid taking anything for too long. Part of this rotation includes spirulina. This super food is packed with nutrients, including the B-complex vitamins depleted by stress. It’s also believed to contain natural anti-inflammatory compounds.
I don’t like to write about fibromyalgia or adrenal fatigue without stressing the need for a healthy, balanced diet. I also realize that you may be dealing with physical fatigue and brain fog. So, if you need assistance with learning to cook real meals, help is available. I was lucky enough to have a friend to help. (My friend makes organic meals on the table every night.) So if you’d like to overhaul your diet, think of Real Plans as a friend who can help you negotiate the learning curve. There’s live chat available to help you learn how to easily put real food meals on the table, so you can nourish your body and hopefully start to feel better soon.

Also, I designed a natural pain management course that describes in detail my own path to recovery. Clean eating, combined with homeopathy and a number of natural remedies, has helped my body heal. Since everyone is different, I can’t claim or promise someone else will see the same results.
But I designed this very affordable course so others can see what helped me. This will hopefully inspire them to try something similar, as they embark upon their own unique path to better health. For more information on how I got well again, click on the image below.

One blend which allieviates pain is Coconut oil 1 tbspn, Frankensense 10 drops, 10 drops cedarwood. Roll on affected area as needed. Peppermint would improve the scent. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Mary, thank you so much for reading and for sharing. I might suggest using less of the aromatic, in proportion to the carrier oil, especially if you’re going to use it on a wide area of the body.
I also have fibro . This was great to read and thank you for your help . Having a terminal daughter , I need all the help I can get !
Hi Robi, thanks so much for reading. I will keep you and your daughter in my prayers.
Thank u. My two daughters have fibromyalgia. One has insurance and the other one doesn’t. But they r always in pain. God bless u. I do the oils so i am making these for them.
Hi Phyllis, your daughters are so fortunate to have a mother like you. 🙂
I have severe nerve pain in my feet. I am not diabetic. But Not even 1 of 8 doctors can help me. I will try your oil recipe and pray yoy are right. Se ere pain since 2008 June. Doc’s just want me to take Lyrica, Tramadol, anther one that starts with a c. I pray your recipe works. My feet feel like they are electricuted every step I take. So sad.
Hi Regina, I’m so sorry to hear about your condition and I hope something works for you. I do need to stress that I can’t make any claims or promises about any particular product and health regimen. We are all so different and what works for one person may or may not work for anyone else. If it were me, I’d try a wide range of different types of remedies. I did homeopathy for years, which helped immensely. For me, diet was so important. For instance, this weekend I felt better than I’ve ever felt in years. It was like nothing had ever happened to me. But a couple of bites of something that contained dairy resulted in a setback. The pain was nowhere near as intense as it used to be. But it was there. So I used Rapid Relief, took a supplement that contained essential fatty acids and then took a homeopathic remedy. Today is much better. I may or may not use Rapid Relief, but I will take some camu camu powder mixed with honey, along with an herbal anti-inflammatory. I mix my supplements around so much. Feel free to let us know how you’re doing and feel free to engage in my Facebook page.
Look into nattokinase and thyme tea
Hi Dee, thank you for telling me about these. I am always on the lookout for new natural anti-inflammatory remedies, since I need to rotate my stock so everything keeps working.

I can’t claim or promise that a simple essential oil recipe will offer complete, long lasting or even significant relief. Look at it like a bandage. The real healing has to come from within. For me it was dietary and lifestyle changes. I use essential oils for any breakthrough pain. They would not have touched my excruciating pain before I changed my diet. I see essential oils as just one more tool against this condition.
