    Berries To Help You Sleep

September 17, 2016 in Herbal remedies

berries to help you sleepInsomnia is a huge problem. At least it is for adults living in the United States. Nearly 60 percent of the population reportedly suffers from sleeplessness, at least a few nights each week.

    Berries and Sleep

(This post contains affiliate links. Please read my full disclosure here.)

Not surprisingly, given how you feel the next day, after a night of tossing and turning, many people want solutions that don’t involve prescription sleeping pills. One option is a blend of berries designed to help you doze off. One of the ingredients is goji. This berry is clinically proven to reduce stress and improve sleep quality.

    Berries To Help You Sleep

I struggled with insomnia for years. It ruined my life. Occasionally I’d get a good night’s sleep. Most of the time I didn’t. During the day, all I wanted to do was take a nap. (But I still couldn’t sleep, despite the fact I was awake most of the night.) Sometimes, in the evening, I’d go to bed a couple of hours earlier than I needed to. (Even this didn’t work.)

Now, though, I no longer worry about getting enough sleep. I believe the problem is under control. My insomnia seemed related to adrenal fatigue. This is something I developed twice, after periods of intense stress.

Natural Remedies For Stress Anxiety and Depression

Healing from this condition was necessary. I used used a lot of natural stress and sleep remedies, including herbs, homeopathy and essential oils.

There are a number of excellent essential oil blends designed for sleep. So, in addition to herbal remedies, such as berries, you may also want to think about aromatherapy.

Please understand, though, that I’m not a doctor. So I can’t give medical advice. Nor can I promise that any natural remedy I write about will help solve anyone else’s sleep problems. All I can do is share my own story of beating insomnia naturally, as well as tell my readers about scientific articles on berries and sleep.

Natural Herbal Remedies For Better Sleep

For me, rotating my natural sleep remedies is essential. Otherwise, they stop working. So I’m always happy to hear about anything new. It took me a long time to figure out why my natural sleep remedies always stopped working. Then, I discovered that I needed to rotate my remedies. Typically, I never use the same sleep remedy more than two weeks in a row, and sometimes less. (I can always come back to it, after a break.) Rotating remedies has made a huge difference.

Fortunately, there are a number of herbal remedies made for sleep. One of them is Berry Sleepy. This is made from a blend of nutritional super foods, such as passion fruit, goji berries and tart cherries.

According to the company website, these berries provide the nutrients and minerals you need to heal your body and regulate your sleep cycle.

How To Use Goji Berries For Sleep

In recent years, the goji berry has received a lot of attention as a natural sleep aid. That’s probably because of a 2008 study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine. This report showed that consuming standardized goji juice had discernible health benefits for healthy adults. After two weeks, people in the treatment group reported increased energy, stamina and ability to focus. They also slept better, compared to those in the control group.

If you’re interested in using goji berries for sleep, I don’t know if you’ll find these Asian fruits in your local grocery store. But you can order them online.

Another option is to take a special blend that contains goji, as well as two other berries. One benefit is that herbalists often recommend blends for better results. That’s because it’s believed that combining medicinal plants creates a synergy. So it’s possible that taking a formula with different kinds of fruit is more effective than consuming just one type of berry.

In addition to goji, Berry Sleepy contains passion fruit. This is considered a good natural remedy for stress. This formula also contains tart cherries, known for their anti-inflammatory properties. A separate study that ran in the Journal of Medicinal Food noted that tart berry juice was beneficial to older adults with insomnia. Berry Sleepy is designed for adults. It’s recommended that it’s taken about 20 to 30 minutes before bed.
