Bach flower essences were created by Dr. Edward Bach, MD. He designed these gentle homeopathic remedies to help people overcome negative emotions.
He made 38 remedies from flowering plants, which have since come to be known as Bach flower essences.
Dr. Bach believed they could address any sort of problem that arises in life, especially since it’s possible to combine them, for a more customized approach. So, what’s the best Bach flower remedy for anger?
Bach Flower Remedies for Anger
Actually, there are two remedies specifically designed to help with feelings of anger, resentment and injustice, according to the British-based Bach Centre.
One of the remedies is vervain flower essence, which can be used to combat feelings of injustice.
Unfortunately, unjust behavior is often why we feel angry. I personally believe we’re seeing an epidemic of personality behaviors, such as malignant narcissism. A hallmark of this disorder is the mistreatment of others.
This appears to be done with a lack of remorse.
So many of us have had first-hand experience with these destructive relationships.
I’m so happy this problem is now being more widely discussed. Before that, most people had no idea what they were dealing with.
Best Bach Flower Remedy for Anger
Another anger remedy recommended by the Bach Centre is willow flower essence. This remedy, it notes, may be indicted for people who believe it is impossible to forgive.
Although I realize it’s extremely difficult to forgive a deceitful person, one who has no intention of apologizing, you still need to do it.
Not letting go of this anger will only hurt you, not the one who did the harm.
Narcissistic behavior is extremely frustrating.
This is especially true if you’re dealing with a serial provoker. This is an individual who sets up scenarios, designed to drive you around the bend. He or she is delighted if you wallow in anger. Don’t give them this satisfaction. Forgive from the bottom of your heart and move on. This is the only thing that can set you free.
Flower Essences for Anger and Resentment
If you’re seeking some support, with a homeopathic remedy developed by a physician, the Bach Centre says willow essence may be right for you.
The Centre also recommends combining remedies, if appropriate. So, if that’s the case, it would be possible to take vervain and willow together.

Vervain and willow are both considered good if you’ve suffered some sort of hurt, as well as feelings of anger and resentment toward others.
But there are other remedies recommended by the Bach Centre, to deal with specific feelings of anger.
Many people think homeopathic holly essence is a good general remedy for anger. This is the only remedy they may consider, if they want to help balance over-the-top anger. However, this appears to be most appropriate for people who direct their anger toward others. These individuals may be hateful, envious and spiteful. This is a much different picture than someone struggling with feelings of injustice, and inability to forgive.
The Bach Centre website points out that holly may not be best for everyone, and gives examples of other remedies that may be more appropriate, such as vervain, willow and impatiens.
Someone who gets annoyed with the perceived slowness of others, or who respond inappropriately and quickly to trivial matters may benefit from homeopathic impatiens essence.
How to Use Bach Flower Remedies
I’m not a medical doctor. (But I am a certified homeopath.) So everything you read here is not intended as medical advice.
Instead, I’m only sharing my personal experience with Bach essences.
I’ve been using these and other homeopathic remedies for nearly 20 years.
One of my homeopathic mentors, I believe, has taught me well.
She says never to use a remedy more than needed. This includes the gentle Bach flower essences.
Once a remedy has done it’s job, she advised, put it aside unless it’s needed again. If you feel relief, let it continue working. Only take another dose if it’s indicated, she tells me.
This is why I’ve owned my original bottle of homeopathic Bach Rescue Remedy for more than 20 years. This is the formula that contains five flower essences, which Dr. Bach designed for shock, trauma and bad news.
Benefits of Forgiveness and Letting Go
Trust me, I know how difficult it is to forgive someone who hurt you, especially if there’s an element of deceit and betrayal. Although I don’t have formal training in psychology, I, unfortunately, do have (a lot) of first-hand experience in dealing with narcissistic people.
There’s nothing to be gained by hanging on to your anger. There are great benefits in forgiveness. Here are a few.
- Forgiveness is the only road to freedom from the person who hurt you. (In many cases, I realize, this damage was inflicted by someone with strong narcissistic traits.) Once you forgive, you are free to move on with your life.
- Forgiving someone saves you from becoming hardened and bitter.
- Doing this can help your health. It’s been scientifically proven that anger is bad for you. Dr. Bach, who practiced in the early 1900’s, was light years ahead of everyone else when it came to the mind/body connection. He was convinced that negative emotions make you sick. Also, he believed that correcting these thought patterns would lead to better health.
- Some people who suffer from narcissistic personality disorders are very disturbed. They derive pleasure from someone else’s pain. Staying angry feeds into this unhealthy dynamic, if this is what you’re dealing with.
- The person who hurt you may not care if you forgive them or not. So you’re really doing this for you. Forgiving someone allows you to do something nice for yourself.

Hi, this is really useful. Thank you. Could you advise what would be good for a person who is narcissistic? Thank you, Beth
Beth I wish I knew the answer. If I had a solution for malignant narcissism I’d be rich. My only suggestion would be to work with the person in question and see if they’d agree to take a specific remedy that matches their symptoms. But I know that’s a lot easier said than done.
