I have chronic nerve inflammation. This means that if I’m not careful, I’ll suffer excruciating pain.
Fortunately, I manage my symptoms pretty well. I don’t eat many processed foods. Junk food is out of the question.
I take a natural herbal anti-inflammatory supplement. I use homeopathy when needed. Also, I try to manage my stress.

Every now and then, though, the pain strikes. When that happens, I reach for my Cooling Water – Anti-Inflammatory Blend, a special essential oil formula created for pain control.
I’d much rather use essential oils than OTC pain medication. That’s because these drugs have potentially dangerous side effects. Also, at least for me, over-the-counter pain meds don’t work very well.
Essential oils have made such a huge difference in my life. So I love to tell my readers about them.
There is even a little evidence that aromatherapy (another name for essential oils) has some validity when it comes to pain.
One study that ran in the Pain Research and Treatment journal noted that, “The findings of this study indicate that aromatherapy can successfully treat pain when combined with conventional treatments.”
Can Essential Oils Help Nerve Pain?
At one time, I was so disabled I could barely walk. So I decided to clean up my lifestyle. This included a dietary overhaul. Hazardous household chemicals were next on the hit list. Then I went through my cosmetics and tossed them out.
Regaining my health was a multi-pronged effort. But our bodies have an amazing ability to heal.
Essential oils now play a big role in my health regimen. I use them for pain relief and I use them at night to help me sleep. One of the most frustrating aspects of chronic illness is extreme fatigue, often coupled with insomnia.
Despite my healthy lifestyle, I occasionally feel pain in my lower back. This is area most affected by inflamed nerves. Instead of taking ibuprofen, I use Nature’s Fusions Cooling Water – Anti-Inflammatory Blend. Before putting it on my skin, I mix it with a carrier oil. Essential oils are very concentrated. So they must be used with a carrier.
Essential Oils For Nerve and Muscle Pain
Essential oils help take the edge off my pain, which sometimes gets worse right before a storm. My overall pain level is pretty mild, compared to what it used to be. But it’s nice to know that a safe natural remedy exists, which can be used as much as needed.
In the past, I used to make my own pain control formula with peppermint essential oil and clove oil. Sometimes I’d add a little bit of myrrh oil to the mix. But now I use Cooling Water Anti-Inflammatory formula, which contains both peppermint, ginger and lavender, plus four other aromatic oils noted for their natural analgesic properties.
I’ve also used another essential oil pain relief formula sold by a different company. It also helped dull the pain, and I highly recommend it as well. But, right now, my body needs something to cool the pain. Someone else, though, may respond better to a warming remedy. (My previous formula seemed more warming.)
Everyone is different. Our bodies also change. So we may need different solutions at different times. I may need to return to this original formula later. The original formula still works well for my headaches. It’s quite possible at some point I’ll need a warming blend, instead of a cooling blend. If that’s the case, the original formula will be an excellent choice.
Essential Oils For Pain Control
Using this blend spares me from having to buy seven separate bottles of oils, if I wanted to use the same mix found in Cooling Water. One huge advantage of using blends is that it’s believed a synergy exists between the different oils. So a blend will probably be more effective than using a single oil.
I’ve been using Nature’s Fusions essential oils for a couple of months, ever since the company sent me a free shipment of oils to review. I was so impressed with the quality that I decided to keep writing about this company. I consider it one of best alternatives to the multilevel marketing brands.
I’m sure many people are looking for different options. They want to try aromatherapy, but they’re don’t like shopping through multilevel marketing networks. I felt the same way, until I started branching out and trying differnet non-MLM labels. A number of excellent, lower-priced alternatives exist, including Nature’s Fusions. Below, you can see Cooling Water, which works for me. I need something cool to tame my nerve pain. However, someone else may like the Fire & Ice Muscle Blend. This works for me as well, but my body seems to need the Cooling Water Blend.

Essential Oils For Nerve Pain Relief
Essential oils have been used medicinally for hundreds of years. Right now, they’ve become very popular, with more people seeking a drug-free solution for their health problems. There is very little clinical research focusing on using aromatherapy for pain control. I was unable to find any study on aromatherapy and nerve pain.
But essential oils do have a proven role in pain relief. The University of Maryland Medical center website noted that aromatherapy has been found to reduce the need for pain medication in people suffering from cancer, headaches and rheumatoid arthritis.
I use peppermint essential oil when I have a headache and it always eases the pain. My headaches are not killer migraines, but rather dull achy head congestion.
Essential Oils For Nerve Back Pain
Most of my pain is centered in my lower back, along my sciatic nerve. One holistic doctor diagnosed me with chronic nerve inflammation. She likes to restore health, rather than focus on diagnostic labels. So she prescribed a combination of herbal medicine and homeopathy. She also did a type of acupuncture during a couple of sessions.
Perhaps I could have pursued mainstream medicine and focused on a diagnosis. But I was more interested in getting well. Plus, I’m using the exact same essential oil recipe I’d use for chronic pain, regardless of diagnosis. For instance, I recently dealt with a bout of TMJ. Essential oils (the Cooling Water blend) helped so much, until my chiropractor was able to solve the problem.
Now, by eating a really clean diet, I’m pretty much free of symptoms. The occasional mild pain is managed with Cooling Water or another aromatic blend. I also sleep better, thanks largely to essential oils.

One bit of information I should add. I also eat clean meals made with real food. Learning how to cook healthy isn’t that difficult, once you get a system in place. Learn About Natural Pain Management
It took me years to finally figure out how to relieve my pain naturally, so I could resume my life. I don’t consider myself cured. But I’m managing my symptoms so well that pain isn’t really an issue. Although I can’t promise that what I did to relieve my pain will work for anyone else, I created a video and text course that describes the various remedies and healing methods I used to restore my health. The Effectiveness Of Aromatherapy In Reducing Pain
What is in the blend? Some eoils I cannot use so I need to know…other than peppermint and clove.
Hi Peggy, the other oils, besides the peppermint and clove, are laurel, black pepper, cassia cinnamon, ginger, German chamomile, juniper and thyme. I hope this helps.
Update: The inflammation blend I’m using now contains peppermint, ginger, lavender, German chamomile, Roman chamomile, blue tansy and helichrysum essential oils.
How do you get rid of menopause headaches.
I am not a doctor so I can’t give medical advice. First check with your own doctor to rule out all other causes. For my mild headaches I dilute peppermint essential oil in a carrier oil (recommended 1 percent dilution) and rub it on my forehead.
Could you tell me what Essential oils are a good for Sciatica Pain and how much i would use? I would really appreciate your help, Thank you.
In general peppermint, lavender, ginger and a few other oils have helped me a lot. Most of the companies sell special pain blends so you don’t have to buy multiple bottles. Always dilute with a carrier oil before putting essential oils directly on your skin and it’s not a bad idea to do a 24-hour patch test inside your elbow first with a small spot of skin if you’ve never used these oils before. Best of luck.
