    Carrot Seed Oil Recipes

June 13, 2015 in Essential Oils, Non-toxic beauty products

carrot seed oil recipesThere’s growing awareness that many beauty products are filled with toxins. Fortunately, some cosmetics are now made from plant-based materials only. In general, these are excellent choices, formulated to work just as well as the poisonous stuff we need to replace. But they’re also very expensive.

I want to tell you how you can make your own natural beauty products from carrot seed essential oil, so you can save money. In general, it’s much more cost effective to make your own cosmetics.

I’m not trashing natural cosmetics, which you buy off the shelf. They’re a good option for people who want convenience.

One reason they’re relatively expensive is that they contain higher-quality ingredients. What’s missing is the sodium lauryl sulfate. This cheap lathering agent is found in many personal care items, including toothpaste. There’s mounting concern that SLS may form carcinogenic compounds during the manufacturing process, and also when it mixes with other chemicals. In any event, it may irritate the skin and contribute to redness and flaking.

Many cosmetics also contain parabens. These are added as preservatives. But they’re something I try to avoid. That’s because they can work as hormone disruptors. They have an estrogen-like effect in the body. Some researchers believe they may be part of the reason breast cancer has reached epidemic levels.

    Carrot Seed Essential Oils Benefits

In my road back to health, my toxic skin creams were the first thing to go. I don’t miss them at all, because I now use grapeseed, rosehip and jojoba oils on my face. I was pleasantly surprised by how good they worked. They also evened out my skin tone, so I no longer need to wear a base foundation.

If you’re on a tight budget, or if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on cosmetics, you can easily whip up an all-natural moisturizer with pure carrot seed oil as the active ingredient.

You can also add another essential oil, although this is optional. Aromatics seem to become more powerful when they’re mixed, because they work in synergy. But carrot seed oil (combined with a carrier oil) is also good as a stand-alone dryness and wrinkles. Actually, it’s one of the very first aromatic oils that come to mind when you think of natural wrinkle fighting.

    Carrot Seed Oil Recipes

My favorite carrot seed essential oil recipe is extremely simple. I use this as a natural wrinkle fighter and also as a sunscreen. Carrot seed oil is said to have an SPF factor of between 38 and 40. But please test this yourself on a little patch of skin before heading to the beach. This is all I’m going to need to use this summer to keep my olive-toned skin from burning. However, everyone is different. So please check with your own doctor about the best form of sun protection.

Anyway, here’s how to make a carrot seed oil wrinkle fighter sun lotion.

    • 4 teaspoons of grapeseed oil. Or you can use avocado oil or any other carrier oil.
    • 8 drops of carrot seed oil.

Test this on a little patch of skin to make sure you are not sensitive to this oil.

Carrot seed oil should not be used by anyone whom is pregnant, or thinks they could be. Essential oils have strong medicinal properties, and this oil is sometimes used by aromatherapists to help women bring on menstruation.

    Carrot Seed Oil Uses

Although carrot seed oil is best known for helping firm and tone the skin, its possible uses are much broader. It can also be used to potentially support the body when it’s fighting an infection.

    Essential Oils for Scrapes

Most essential oils have antibacterial properties. So they make good topical infection fighters. Certain oils often used for skin care are especially useful when you have a cut or a scrape. Carrot seed oil is one of them. Here is a recipe that’s especially good if you have children in the house.

    • 2 teaspoons of olive oil
    • 1 drop of carrot seed oil
    • 1 drop of lavender oil

Carrot seed and lavender oils blend well together. Mix these ingredients in a jar and store it in a cabinet, away from the light, until you need it. Only put it on wounds that have closed.

Health Benefits of Carrot Seed Oil

Carrot seed oil is thought to be a good choice for promoting overall good health. It likely assists your body in the detoxification process, as it contains concentrated antioxidants. It is said to be very good for the liver. If you’re feeling a little run down, maybe consider this recipe. However, I also need to point out that I’m not a medical professional. Nor can I promise that a natural remedy I mention on this site will solve anyone’s health problem. All I can do is mentioned how certain aromatics may possibly be used by holistic healers.

    • Two teaspoons of olive oil
    • 1 drop of carrot seed oil
    • 1 drop of cedarwood oil

Rub this mixture on your abdomen. You can also put some inside of your wrists.
