Can natural remedies help with the traumatic after effects of emotional abuse? Some people think they can.
I tend to agree, although I need to stress that I’m not a doctor or a mental health professional. Instead, I write from personal experience. So all of the information presented here is intended as information only, instead of as medical advice.
At one point, I had an extremely malicious person in my life. Of course, at the time, I didn’t know it. It was only after a series of very unpleasant events that the truth finally came out.

Even though I severed ties with this person, I felt extremely betrayed. I’ll spare you the details. Safe to say, though, that it was traumatic. It also affected my poor husband and children. So I was left with residual shock. This was partly mitigated with Bach Flower remedies.
Bach Flower Remedies for Post Traumatic Stress
I dealt with this situation through a lot of prayer. One of my goals was to forgive. The other was to regain my equilibrium.
From time to time, I write about certain natural remedies that can be used to support your body in the aftermath of narcissistic abuse. All of these approaches I have used myself, both before and after my run-in with a malicious person.
Bach Remedies How to Use
Can Bach flower remedies help you recover emotionally, if you’ve experienced deceit, betrayal and other forms of abuse?
That’s a tough question. Mainstream scientists don’t tend to study flower remedies or other forms of homeopathy. So much of what we know comes from alternative medicine experts, as well as the body of work left behind by Dr. Edward Bach, MD, who created what we now know as flower remedies. (Some people also refer to them as flower essences.)
Centaury Flower Remedy for Abuse
I’ve personally used Bach Flower Rescue Remedy to deal with extreme trauma. I’ve also used a couple of other Bach remedies for various other reasons. The beauty of these remedies is that they’re designed to heal on an emotional level. Dr. Bach believed that if you could ease the mind, physical healing would follow. (He also thought that mental stress could lead to bodily illness.)
Please understand that I can’t promise or claim Bach flowers or any other natural remedy will yield the desired results, or solve a particular problem. All I can do is share information on how certain flower essences are typically used.
There’s one thing I want to make note of. Even though homeopathic remedies may come with instructions telling you to take them every day, I don’t do this. Because I don’t think it’is a good idea. Actually, according to my wonderful and recently deceased homeopath, remedies are meant to be taken once. Then you see if it works. If it does great. Hold off on taking another dose unless you feel you need it. This would mean a return of the original symptoms. Bach flower remedies are very affordable. So if just one dose does the trick, then that’s money well spent.
One Bach remedy that’s considered good for emotional trauma is centaury flower essence. This is made from a delicate pinkish/purple flower that’s found throughout Europe and Asia.
Centaury Bach Flower Remedy
Dr. Bach believed that centuary essence can help those of us who may be taken advantage of by bullies. Centaury, according to Dr. Bach’s referenced writings, is good for quiet people who may not be able to say “no.” Others may impose upon us, asking us to overextend ourselves. People who are centuary types tend to be easy to get along with.
If you feel the above description applies to you, then, perhaps, centaury would be something to consider. I do love Bach remedies and I feel comfortable recommending them, because I use them myself. If you can’t find centaury or any of the other Bach remedies locally, they’re available online.

Bach Remedies When You’re Overwhelmed
One thing I really like about Bach flower remedies is that they’re really easy to use. Unlike regular homeopathy, where you typically work with a professional, for best results, you can easily find the right Bach essence yourself. All you do is pick a predominant emotion and match it to the remedy. There are only 38 Bach essences to choose from. If you’re struggling with multiple emotions, you can mix multiple Bach remedies together.
If you’re suffering from the after effects of emotional abuse, maybe my story can offer some encouragement. One blessing that’s come about it that this experience toughened me up. Now, I have a better sense of what I’ll tolerate. I’m better able to spot unhealthy behavior. If I notice this, I keep my distance.
If you’ve been abused, and have trouble forgiving the person who harmed you, it’s possible that Bach flower remedies may be able to help. There are specific remedies designed for anger.
Bach Remedies Healing Herbs
Bach flower remedies, as well as regular homeopathy, have helped me a great deal. I’ve also used various herbal remedies, such as tulsi tea with lavender. Tulsi is an Indian herb that’s been used for centuries as a health tonic. It’s classified as an adaptogen, and is considered good for helping us to better cope with stress. Lavender is often used as a natural tranquilizer.
I’ve also used (and still use) essential oil blends designed for stress. Once again, I can’t prove that they’ve worked. But I do feel more at ease when I use these oils.
I am so thankful that we have these wonderful natural healing methods available, at a time when there’s much goodness in the world, and so much ugliness as well.
