    Chaga Mushroom and Inflammation

November 3, 2016 in Herbal remedies

chaga mushrooms and inflammationI have chronic nerve inflammation. This means I must control it or suffer the consequences. (This would be excruciating pain.)

I’ve gotten much better at managing this condition. Now, my symptoms have receded. I feel good again. I don’t take drugs. But I do use herbal remedies. I’ll probably need these natural plant-based medicines for the rest of my life.

Also, in order for these remedies to keep working, I switch them around. Fortunately, God has given us an abundance of natural remedies, including medicinal mushrooms. So I always have something new to try.

    Chaga Mushroom Natural Anti-Inflammatory Remedy

Many herbs contain natural anti-inflammatory compounds. Fungi do too. Certain mushrooms are now gaining a lot of attention, even in the mainstream medical community. One of them is chaga. This nutrient-dense black mushroom grows in the wild on birch trees.

Chaga has a long history as a folk remedy for a wide range of ailments, and news of this has gotten out. You can now find organic powdered chaga capsules, so you don’t have to head into the woods to harvest your own. (Birch trees grow in temperate and cool climates throughout the Northern Hemisphere.)

    Chaga Mushroom Healing Properties

This mushroom has been used medicinally for thousands of years, in Eastern Europe and in Russia. Chaga is also used in traditional Chinese medicine.

Chaga has a history as a folk remedy for cancer. There’s some modern research to back this up. A few years ago, the International Journal of Medicinal Mushrooms published a report showing that a chaga isolate was able to kill cancerous cells in the lab.

    Chaga Mushroom for Inflammation

Please understand I’m not promoting chaga mushroom powder as a cure for cancer, and I urge anyone with health concerns to discuss then with a doctor. I also need to make it clear that I never promise that mushrooms or any other natural remedy will solve anyone else’s heath problems. All I’m doing is sharing information on chaga’s potential benefits. One of them appears to be inflammation control.

    Medicinal Mushrooms for Inflammation

One study conducted by a team of Korean researchers found that chaga reduced intestinal inflammation, at least in animal models. The authors also noted that in Asian countries, mushrooms are an accepted complimentary treatment for cancer and chronic inflammation. (These findings were published in the Journal of Biomedicine and Biotechnology.)

    Chaga Mushrooms Where to Buy

On this site, I like to tell my readers about natural remedies. This enables them to share information with their own health practitioner, so they can make informed decisions. So if you’d like to try chaga mushrooms for yourself, and you can’t find them at your local health food store, they’re available online.

With medicinal mushrooms, it’s really important to buy a brand that you know has strict quality controls. Host Defense chaga powder capsules are derived from organically grown mushrooms, which are harvested in the United States. The company is owned by a world famous mycologist (mushroom expert) named Paul Stamets, PhD.

Even though mushrooms are so good for us, they also have a propensity to absorb pollutants. That’s why it’s so important to find mushrooms that grow in an environment that’s not contaminated. So that’s why, if you want to try them, I’m recommending the Host Defense brand.

    Mushrooms Considered Good for Inflammation

Another 2005 study that ran in the Mediators of Inflammation medical journal pointed out that chaga, as well as other species of medicinal mushrooms, have long been used in Asian medicine to treat a variety of conditions and illnesses. It’s believed that medicinal mushrooms have both immune-stimulating as well as immune modulating properties.

It’s also possible to consume chaga as a tea, and you can also order dried chaga chunks online. Also, here’s an article on how to brew chaga tea.

    Mushrooms to Fight Inflammation

Anyway, as I mentioned earlier, I love telling my readers about natural remedies, such as chaga mushrooms, so they have this information. I believe we all need to be educated consumers, responsible for our own health. That’s why I’ve chosen to fight my excess inflammation naturally, without drugs. I’ve taken a variety of natural remdies, such as herbal Zyflamend and organic camu camu powder. But none of these, I’m convinced, would be very effective if I continued eating badly. (Yes, I loved my junk food.)

    Mushrooms and an Anti-Inflammatory Diet

When I’m writing about natural remedies, and how they’ve helped me, I try to point out that the mainstay of my natural healing has been dietary.

Switching to real food was an adjustment. But I’m so glad I did. My body didn’t start to heal until I switched out my junk food for organic food. This involved a new way of cooking. If you’re thinking of upgrading your diet, but don’t know where to begin, I highly recommend Real Plans. This is a meal planning service I now use myself. It’s designed to save you time and money as you put delicious healthy meals on the table. If you’d like more information, click on the picture below.

None at the moment. I have nerve pain and must rotate my remedies. I’m not a good person to ask on dose or amount, because I’m very sensitive to remedies. I always need to take much less than the average person. It’s a very individual thing.
