    Essential Oils And Anger

October 12, 2015 in Essential Oils

essential oils and angerEssential oils are often used to improve your mood and reduce anxiety. Many people use them to get a good night’s sleep.

Can these same oils also help soften the feelings of anger, a very unhealthy emotion, especially if it’s prolonged?

Yes, according Aroma Web, one of the largest and most authoritative sites on the Internet dedicated to essential oils.

Essential oils are extremely safe, as long as you use them properly. This means not applying them straight to your skin before diluting them. Some aromatherapists also say to never take an essential oil internally. Others recommend doing this only if working with an experienced practitioner or a medical doctor.

Essential Oils To Calm You Down

In any event, it’s possible that certain essential oils may be calm you down and help your negative emotions dissolve.

However, because there hasn’t been a lot of clinical research conducted on essential oils, what we know is limited to their historical use. Aromatics have been used for centuries to address a wide range of physical and psychological problems. On its website, the University of Maryland Medical Center points out that some studies have found that certain oils do seem to function as natural tranquilizers.

So because of this limited research, I can’t claim that any particular oil of blend will help you calm down. All I can do is share how aromatics are viewed by people who use them regularly.

The Aroma Web site recommends several blends that can potentially reduce anger. Many practitioners prefer blends over single oils, as it’s believed they are more effective, due to the synergy resulting from several oils working together.

One of the blends includes three drops of bergamot, one drop of ylang ylang essential oil and one drop of jasmine. Out of all the recipes, this seemed as if it would smell the best. This recipe assumes that you will mix these oils in a bland carrier oil, as they are too strong to apply directly to your skin.

Essential Oils to Help Get Rid of Anger

Ylang ylang oil is derived from a flowering plant that grows throughout Southeast Asia and other tropical regions. It has a beautiful fragrance, and is often used as a natural tranquilizer.

    Plant Therapy Ylang Ylang Oil

The brand  of ylang ylang essential oil shown below is very high quality. It’s one of my very favorite labels, as it’s sold directly to the consumer. Most of the oils I buy are not from multilevel marketing sources. Plant Therapy oils are tested twice. One test is done by an independent lab. When I’m using oils from this company, I have no doubt they’re pure and potent.

On the right you can see Plant Therapy Meditation Synergy Blend. Although I do not do Eastern mediation, and do not advocate this sort of spirituality, I like the incredibly soothing scent of this formula.

    Potential Benefits of Ylang Ylang

Ylang Ylang essential oil is becoming more popular as a good all-around aromatic oil. That’s because it has a number of potential health benefits, apart from the ability to sooth your mood, and to help you develop a new perspective.

This oil is also often recommended for alleviating headaches and for helping you fall asleep easier. It’s also considered a good hair and skin remedy, and, reportedly, has the ability to help reduce the appearance of scars.

    Anger Essential Oil Blend

Aura Cacia Chill Pill is an essential oil blend that seems to be formulated to help neutralize unhealthy emotions, such as anger and resentment. One thing to always remember, is that if someone has abused you, or deceived you, remaining angry doesn’t hurt them. (It just hurts you.) That’s why I encourage my readers to forgive, even if someone has hurt you and refuses to apologize.

Essential Oils for Anger And Resentment

We are living in a time when people routinely trample upon the rights of others. When this happens, anger is a very normal reaction. However, we need to let go of the hurt and pain. Oftentimes, we need to do this despite the fact the offending party has not apologized, and may never do so.

Essential Oils for Anger and Anxiety

In that case, we still need to forgive them anyway. We need to do this without expecting an apology. That’s because narcissists hate to apologize. If they do, it’s generally not sincere. I realize this becomes frustrating. It can also affect your well being. So this site contains an entire section on Narcissism and Your Health. For me, learning how narcissists operate was immensely helpful.

I personally think it’s a good idea to use several healing methods. Essential oils are not magic. They will support you as you struggle with anger. But they won’t magically make it go away. Some oils do have the proven ability to help alleviate anxiety.

You can attack unresolved anger from several angles. In addition to essential oils, there’s a healing system known as Bach flower remedies. These are gentle homeopathic remedies designed to relieve emotional distress. There’s are Bach flower remedies that specifically address anger and the feeling it’s impossible to forgive.

Aura Cacia Chill Pill Essential Oil

As someone who’s recovered from narcissistic abuse, I’ve used various plant-based remedies to help support our bodies, and facilitate healing. Essential oils have a long history of use for physical and emotional imbalances and upsets.

I personally use essential oils every day, oftentimes when I’m working. I’ve found they help me better focus on difficult tasks. Also, I use essential oils to help me sleep. Many of the same aromatic oils that can potentially help with anger, such as lavender and patchouli essential oil, are also considered good if you suffer from insomnia. Both of these aromatic oils are found in the Chill Pill Synergy Blend that you can see below.

Aura cacia is a leader in the essential oil industry. (I am totally confident using its products.) This company’s 100 percent pure oils are also not sold through multi-level marketing channels. The Chill Pill blend contains multiple ingredients, including basil, orange, peppermint, lavender, Roman chamomile and patchouli.

I am not aware of any studies looking specifically at essential oils and anger. However, the little research that exists seems to show that essential oils can influence our mood. One study that ran in the medical journal Hepatogastroenterology found that patients who inhaled neroli oil prior to a stressful procedure had reduced blood pressure, a marker for anxiety.

Liona, I’m not a doctor and I can’t give medical advice. All I can do is share my personal experience of using essential oils and other natural remedies. There is an essential oil blend sold by Plant Therapy called A+ attention that’s designed for focus issues. But to be perfectly honest, what you’re describing sounds more involved that what an essential oil blend can fix. If it were my son, I’d probably want to bring him to a really good homeopath. I brought my own children to homeopaths when they were little, and it helped so much. If you don’t know of a homeopath, start at your local health food store and see if anyone there can recommend someone. If they can’t, I’d ask a chiropractor. Look for someone who works with water remedies and LM potency remedies. Best of luck to you and thank you for reading my blog.
