Can essential oils increase your energy, vitality, focus and attention?
I believe they can. That’s why I often use a special aromatic blend when I’m working. Even though this formula is designed to kill germs, it contains individual oils known for their ability to increase concentration.

Also, there are special energy essential oil blends you can buy. One of them even comes with a warning to not use it several hours before you plan to sleep.
When I’m at my computer, I like to use various oils to help me focus. Maybe it’s just my imagination. But aromatherapy seems to make the task at hand easier. Essential oils are especially helpful when I go to bed too late the night before, and I don’t get enough sleep. When I use them, I’m not as tempted to lie down and take a nap when I should be productive. (I’m self employed, and work at home.)
Essential Oils For Vitality and Energy
Aromatherapy has a long history of use, for all kinds of conditions. It seems to have physical, as well as emotional benefits. Modern science is still played catch up when it comes to essential oils. But the few studies we do have are encouraging.
The University of Maryland Medical Center website has published information on aromatherapy. It notes that certain aromatics, such as rose, neroli and lavender essential oil, are useful when it comes to decreasing anxiety.
Essential Oils For Energy and Happiness
Other researchers have found that specific oils, such as rosemary, can help with memory and concentration. Animal studies have also shown that cinnamon oil enhances cognition.
More studies are needed, especially in humans. But I”m not waiting for them. I want to use my essential oils right now. Also, aromatherapy has a long track record of safety and efficacy. It’s become increasingly popular for a reason. Essential oils seem to have a number of potential health benefits, including the ability to lift the mood.
Essential Oils For Energy and Alertness
A number of blends on the market are designed for increased energy and alertness. Most of them contain one or more citrus oils, due to energizing and mood-elevating properties.
On this site, I like to tell readers about things that can make their lives better. Essential oils have helped me so much. I use them for alertness. I also use them at night, to help me sleep. For years, I struggled with insomnia. This is no longer an issue, thanks largely to essential oils.
Depending upon the oils you choose, they can either help you focus, or they can help you relax. (Some oils have the ability to do both. It sort of depends upon the time of day you use them.)
Plant Therapy Energy Synergy
I also feel it’s important to tell my readers about natural remedies that I use myself, including essential oils that aren’t sold through a multilevel marketing network. I prefer to shop outside of MLM venues, and I assume some of my readers do as well.
One of the best non-MLM alternatives I’ve found is Plant Therapy. (It’s oils are top quality.) This family-run business has partnered with world famous aromatherapy expert Robert Tisserand. He created the formula you see below.
Plant Therapy Energy Synergy Blend contains blood orange, peppermint, lemon, ginger, eucalpytus and geranium oils. It also comes with a warning not to use it before bedtime.

Essential Oils For Energy
Another essential oil blend, which can also be used for focus, is Plant Therapy Germ Fighter, which I just purchased once again. This blend is one I never want to be without. It’s designed to kill germs. It contains clove, cinnamon, rosemary, lemon and eucalyptus, the same five oils found in other germ busting blends.
This formula used to be called Four Thieves, apparently named after a legend involving a band of Medieval thieves. According to this widely circulated story, these men enjoyed good health during a plague, even though they got close enough to the sick and dying, in order to rob them of their worldly possessions.
Plant Therapy Germ Fighting Blend
Protected by an aromatic blend, the thieves didn’t get sick. But they had to spill their secret once they were apprehended. The king granted them leniency in exchange for their recipe.
Anyway, I use this during cold and flu season to help keep germs away. (It seems to work, at least for me, although I do need to stress that I can’t promise any natural remedy I use will solve anyone else’s health problems.) Anyway, the rosemary (and probably the other oils in this blend) seem to help keep me on task.
Germ Fighter also contains lemon and eucalyptus, two of the ingredients in the Energy blend shown above. This is another blend I wouldn’t recommend using at night, within a few hours of bedtime.

Essential Oil Energy Blend Recipe
If you already have an aromatherapy collection, it’s easy to make your own essential oil energy blend recipe. You’ll need to dilute this with a carrier, such as fractionated coconut oil, before applying it to your skin. Or, you can put undiluted oil in a cold air essential oil diffuser. This has the added benefit of making your room smell wonderful.
3 drops of peppermint essential oil (It’s available here)
2 drops of grapefruit essential oil (It’s available here)
2 drops of eucalyptus essential oil (It’s available here)
2 drops of rosemary essential oil (It’s available here)
If you plant to use these recipe for massage, make sure to mix it with a carrier oil. For a 2 percent dilution, this would be about 3 teaspoons of carrier oil. Use a 1 percent dilution if you plan to use this on large areas of your body. What you don’t use right away can be stored in a clean glass jar away from heat and light.
