If you suffer from adrenal fatigue, you need to pay attention to your diet.

Your body is craving real nutrient-dense food. If at all possible, it should be organic. However, if you absolutely can’t afford it, you still need to eat real food.
Unless you have a private chef, you’ll also need to prepare this food yourself.
This means no frozen pizza or restaurant take out meals. It also means more work.
Cleaning up my diet was difficult. But I’m so glad I took this step. That’s because I’ve regained my health, something I don’t think would have happened otherwise.
Foods That Help Your Adrenal Glands
One day, when I was very sick, my friend called. She gently asked what I’d been eating lately. She also wanted to know why my diet lacked vegetables.
I told her I was too tired to prepare them. My whole body ached. Simply getting from the couch to the kitchen counter was a monumental effort.
“Please, just try and eat a cucumber,” she urged me. “You need to eat vegetables.”
For years, my diet was terrible. Even after I developed adrenal fatigue (for the second time) I ate junk food. It wasn’t until I got serious about getting better that I finally cleaned up my diet. Until then, I continued to indulge in candy, ice cream and other sugar-dense and low nutrition foods. What I really didn’t want to do was give up dairy. I resisted as long as I could.

Meanwhile, my body was falling apart. I boosted my flagging energy with coffee. (This is a big no no for people with adrenal fatigue.)
Finally, though, I realized if I wanted to get better, I needed to start eating better.
Fortunately, my friend walked me through the process. She’s been eating organic food for years. She puts real meals on the table every night. I’m so thankful for a friend like this. She cared enough about my well being to be able to take the time out of her busy schedule to help me learn how to eat.
In our fast-paced society, many of us (myself included) had forgotten the basics of proper nutrition. We’ve forgotten how to eat real food. We need to learn how to eat it again.
Foods That Help Heal Adrenal Fatigue
Unfortunately, I can’t tell you exactly what foods you need to eat. That’s because everyone is different. What works for one person may not work for another. What works for me may not work for you.
In general, holistic healers tell us to stay away from gluten, dairy and genetically modified ingredients. Those are three things I now live without. I also had to give up coffee. This was difficult, but doable.
For a little while, I tried eating for my blood type. However, I found this practically impossible to do. That’s because I’d already removed other offending foods. Any more restrictions would leave me with few food choices.
Natural Remedies For Adrenal Fatigue
Eventually, I recovered from adrenal fatigue. It took a long time. It didn’t happen in a straight path. Some days I’d feel terrible. Then I’d have a string of good days. In addition to a very clean diet, I also used a lot of natural remedies. These have included:
Essential oils to support my adrenal glands
Herbal remedies for adrenal fatigue
Bach flower remedies for stress. I can’t say enough about these gentle homeopathic remedies. They work on an emotional level. They were designed by a British medical doctor who thought that negative thought patterns lead to disease. Likewise, he also believed that healing the psyche would lead to wellness.

Please understand that I’m not a health professional, so I can’t give medical or dietary advice. All I can do is share my story of how I recovered from adrenal fatigue. Cleaning eating played a big role.
My friend patiently supplied me with shopping and cooking tips. (I’m so lucky to have had her in my life.) She was so helpful, especially since I hadn’t regained my energy. There’s a learning curve that goes with learning to eat well. We’ve become accustomed to fast food. I’m so blessed to have had someone to walk me through this process.
Foods For Recovery From Adrenal Fatigue
I can’t give you specific dietary instructions. But I can recommend eating a nutritious balanced diet. I personally avoided extremes, such as an all raw food diet. One of the holistic practitioners I saw told me to eat small meals throughout the day, and to make sure my meals included enough protein.
Because every person is different, it seems unlike that there’s any one diet that can help everybody. It’s important to find the best foods for you, and to avoid anything you can’t tolerate.
During my recovery, I focused on eating balanced meals, rather than following a specific diet.
