After recovering from a crippling and painful nerve condition, I realize that whatever I put on my skin needs to be non toxic.
It’s horrifying to realize how many dangerous chemicals are added to commercial beauty products. But what makes this even worse is that we don’t need these ingredients in the first place. At least for me, natural plant-based ingredients seem to work better artificial moisturizers, and they also have the advantage of being able to heal and renew your skin.
There are a number of excellent wrinkle fighting formulas on the market. However, most of them are not sold at your corner drugstore. They are also expensive. But there’s another option.
Geranium Oil for Your Skin

Instead of buying these high-priced cosmetics, I like to make my own wrinkle fighting remedy with essential oils. One of my favorite anti-aging remedies is pure geranium essential oil.
Aside from the obvious reason of saving money, there are a couple of other advantages to making your own cosmetics. One is that you know exactly what’s going on your face, since you’re the one mixing this custom blend. Most of what you put on your skin winds up in your bloodstream. The skin is the body’s largest organ, and it’s highly absorbent.
Geranium Oil Uses and Benefits
Another plus to making your own moisturizer with geranium essential oil, or another aromatic, is that if you rotate your beauty products, they seem to work better. At least that’s what I’ve found. If you use essential oils, and a few base ingredients, this is easy to do.
For example, whenever I use a new recipe on my face, my skin glows for about a week. Then the glow fades. However, if I use a different oil every few days, I can always have a healthy glow.
Plant-based moisturizers work by nourishing your skin, helping to remove toxins and possibly stimulating the production of collagen. This is the protein that’s responsible for keeping your skin cells moist and plump.
Geranium Oil and Wrinkles
Geranium oil is one of the weapons I use to fight the visible effects of aging. In addition to being a great moisturizer, geranium essential oil is thought to have astringent and tightening properties. So it can potentially firm and tone your face. You can use it as a home remedy for undereye bags and puffiness. (I use geranium oil on my stomach when I have temporary bloating.)
Plant Therapy Geranium Essential Oil
&
I’m firmly convinced that your overall health is reflected in your skin. When I finally decided to eat better, and to eliminate toxins in my home, my appearance approved. I no longer feel the need to wear foundation to cover up my blotchy skin, as the skin on my face now has a more even tone. However, I do need to stress that I can’t promise that anyone else will see the same results. Nor can I guarantee that any natural remedy will solve your skin problems.
How to Use Geranium Oil
If you do use geranium essential oil, keep in mind that it’s very strong. All essential oils must be diluted before you put them on your skin, but geranium especially so. The standard dilution is one drop of geranium oil to one drop of carrier oil. This is also more effective than apply it straight, because the carrier oil takes it to the cells.
One popular carrier is fractionated coconut oil. This is a special type of liquid coconut oil that isn’t that greasy and is easy to apply to your skin.
Natural beauty products with essential oils are highly effective and fun to use. Once you get used to using them, you’ll wonder why you ever slathered your face with hormone disrupting and potentially carcinogenic chemicals.
