I am glad that you realized you had to look for natural cures. Most of these drugs and OTC medications overload our body with chemicals and add more stress to our body and seriously impair our immune & nervous system. Ayurveda/homeopathy are rapidly gaining in popularity as they are based on natural treatments without any side-effects. Your experience is an eye-opening inspiration, encouraging people to adopt a simple veggie diet and get in tune with nature. Thanks.
I like to write about pain. That’s because, at one time, I was in extreme pain. I could barely function. Housework was impossible. Most days, after dragging myself out of bed, I camped out on the couch and tried to move as little as possible.
But I didn’t panic. That’s because I knew a lot about natural health. However, I wasn’t putting this knowledge into practice. I ate junk food. I didn’t eat vegetables. My stress level was off the charts. I ignored the cause, convinced my body could weather it.
Unfortunately, this was a serious miscalculation. The stress did get to me. It showed up in the form of a nagging backache. Then it became widespread body pain. Something terrible was happening to my body. I had no energy. Standing at the counter, getting a meal, was exhausting. Plus, my skin turned a deathly gray. My hair started falling out.
But my story has a happy ending. (Keep reading and I’ll tell you I manage my chronic nerve inflammation naturally, without drugs.)
Is There a Natural Cure for Fibromyalgia Pain?
(This post contains affiliate links. Read my disclosure here.)
There’s no cure for what I have. Holistic healers diagnosed me with adrenal fatigue. My symptoms closely resemble fibromyalgia. I could have pursued this diagnosis too. But I wasn’t interested. I just wanted to get better. At the same time, I realized no one remedy or treatment would restore my health.
Getting better meant some lifestyle changes. I did them, but slower than I should have. For instance, it took years before going dairy-free. Alternative health experts believe milk creates inflammation. My pain level greatly decreased after giving up milk.
I still have a little pain. But it’s not that bad. If I need relief, I use a special essential oil blend designed to reduce inflammation.
I do need to stress that I’m not a doctor. I can’t give medical advice or make a diagnosis. That’s why, if you’re reading this, you’ll want to see your own doctor to rule out anything serious. Then, you may want to think about visiting a holistic healer.
What Can Help Fibromyalgia Pain?
Holistic healers offer a drug-free approach. This might mean radical lifestyle changes. You’ll probably be diagnosed with adrenal fatigue. This condition is generally spotted by alternative medicine practitioners. Mainstream doctors don’t believe it’s real. The symptoms of fibromyalgia and advanced adrenal fatigue are the same.
Holistic healers typically suggest various protocols to restore adrenal function. According to the school of thought that accepts adrenal exhaustion, these glands become worn down by long-term stress. Consequently, they release elevated levels of cortisol. Early on, this controls inflammation. However, as adrenal fatigue progresses, cortisol production drops, setting the stage for chronic inflammatory disease. In my own case, this affected my nerves.
Herbal Pain Relief from Fibromyalgia
I’m so blessed. I found good holistic healers. Quickly, I was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue. I liked the fact that someone was getting to one of the root causes, and devising a plan of action. That was to get my adrenals working again. For a short time, I was given a glandular supplement. I hesitate to mention this, because these are sold over the counter. However, they should only be taken under medical supervision, and generally for a limited time.
I again need to point out that I’m not a doctor. I can’t give medical advice or make a diagnosis. The mainstream medical profession considers fibromyalgia incurable. However, you may hear better news if you see a holistic healer. No one will promise you a cure. But you will be encouraged to reduce inflammation naturally.
Fibromyalgia Pain Relief Home Remedies
For me, less inflammation means less pain. That’s why I still take herbal anti-inflammatory formulas. I also drink organic tulsi tea. This is a time-tested Ayurvedic remedy known as the “Queen of Herbs.” Tulsi is believed to contain compounds that reduce inflammation naturally.
What Can Help Fibromyalgia Pain?
I can’t claim or promise any natural remedy will relieve fibromyalgia pain. All I can do is share my own experience. My pain is almost gone. My life is back to normal. I can go for long walks. I can work. I can take care of my family. I probably tire more easily than the average person. But I’m so grateful I’m no longer in extreme pain.
No one remedy restored my health. Instead, it was a combination of things. This included changing my diet. I also had to reduce my stress. My chemical cosmetics went in the trash. Instead, I use plant-based cosmetics. (About 60 percent of what we put on our skin reaches our bloodstream. That’s why I only use non toxic beauty products.)
I also tried homeopathy, acupuncture and essential oils. Essential oils are now my “go to” pain relievers. I use these instead of over-the-counter pain medication.
Natural Remedies for Fibromyalgia Pain
Essential oils probably won’t work miracles for intense, severe pain. But, for me, they take the edge off. They appear to contain both analgesic and anti-inflammatory agents. They do help. Used properly, they also appear infinitely safer than OTC drugs. Common OTC pain medications can cause a wide range of side effects. Some of them are serious, and even life threatening.
So I’d much rather hit my pain with something safer. The essential oil pain blend I’m now using is called Cooling Water Anti-Inflammatory blend. It’s sold by Nature’s Fusions, a family-run business with incredible essential oils that are reasonably priced. The company did send my first order free, so I could review its oils. However, I’m now a customer, and I’ll be placing future orders and paying for them. Below, you can see Cooling Water, along with another popular blend for muscles. (Nature’s Fusions is much more affordable than the MLM oils, and every bit as good, if not better.)

Self Help for Fibromyalgia
I’m not too attached to labels. I don’t really care what my condition is called, as long as I can reduce its effects. (Fibromyalgia and adrenal fatigue have identical symptoms.) Actually, I prefer to think of my illness as adrenal fatigue. That’s because I can take concrete steps to help my adrenal glands. I switch my natural remedies around a lot. Sometimes I take a special herbal adrenal formula. But not for too long. In my case, this means more 3 or 4 days in a row. I like the energy it gives me. But I don’t want to push my adrenals too far.
There are a lot of self-help home remedies you can try. But the best advice I can give is to find a good holistic healer. One way to do this is to ask at your local health food store. Or, you can find a good chiropractor. This is a specialty that’s under appreciated. Chiropractors study for a long time, and they have excellent knowledge of how the body works. They offer drug-free solutions to pain. In general, chiropractors also know a lot about nutrition.
Foods that Help Fibromyalgia Pain
Dietary change is a difficult step in your natural health journey. This is something I resisted myself, for a long time. I had little trouble going gluten free. That’s because wheat flour substitutes make it easy to enjoy your favorite foods. You can still eat cookies, cake, brownies and your other favorite snacks. So, even on a gluten-free diet, I still consumed a lot of junk.
Giving up the junk was a necessary step. Going dairy free made a huge difference. I realize diet changers are difficult to implement. But, in my case, I had little choice. I’m so glad I finally cleaned up my diet. It saddens me to see Facebook posts by very sick people, who don’t make the connection between a poor diet and poor health.

Cooking from scratch takes time. There’s also a learning curve. I had help. One of my friends had been cooking organic meals for years. So she shared a lot of tips. If you need someone to walk you through the process, I recommend signing up for Real Plans healthy meal planner. You can join for just a month or two, until you’re more comfortable with this way of cooking. Each week you receive a shopping list. This corresponds to a week’s worth of healthy, delicious meals. You can also live chat with a meal planning expert. If you’d like more information on Real Plans, click on the image below.
