Mainstream doctors say autoimmune disease is incurable. They prescribe drugs to treat the symptoms. They usually don’t recommend dietary changes, in an effort to reduce inflammation.

However its the inflammation that fuels the problem. That’s why, for a long time, I took a natural herbal anti-inflammatory formula.
Regular physicians usually don’t talk about all the environmental poisons that can contribute to a toxic overload. Nor do they address any underlying emotional trauma.
Nearly 10 years ago, I developed a crippling condition. It came on rapidly and quickly progressed. What started as a simple backache turned into a painful, paralytic illness.
I began limping and dragging my right leg. The lower half of the right side of my body was partially paralyzed. I became weak and my energy level plummeted. The doctor I spoke with assured me my condition was serious. Mainstream doctors can tell you what’s wrong. But they didn’t have the solution I needed.
At this point, I already knew a lot about alternative medicine, and its healing potential. Both of my children had various health problems when they were young. Once I realized our mainstream doctors had no answers, I started visiting holistic healers. For us, these practitioners were the ones with the solutions.
Healing Autoimmune Diseases Naturally
So, in my efforts to get well, I turned to herbs, homeopathy, Bach flower remedies and natural essential oils.
I was diagnosed, by a naturopath, with severe inflammation. Apparently my nerves are being attacked. She recommended anti-inflammatory herbal blends, along with specific homeopathic remedies.
Instead of spending a lot of time going to a large medical center, I invested my time and resources in alternative medicine.
Holistic Medicine for Autoimmune Disease
Please understand that I’m writing this from a personal perspective only. I’m not a medical professional, so I can’t give medical advice. I need to stress I’m not telling you to stay away from your doctor. He or she can tell you what’s wrong, and rule out anything that poses an immediate danger.
When my illness struck, I was already very familiar with alternative medicine, as a result of my children’s experience. Mainstream doctors couldn’t help us. They had no answers.
We had to find natural solutions, all on our own, and with the help of some wonderful holistic health experts.
One thing I learned is that there’s an alternative for just about everything. There’s always another way to approach things. But it’s often up to the patient to find the answers.
Medicinal Herbs for Autoimmune Disease
Herbal remedies have helped bring my nerve pain under control. That’s because they contain natural, anti-inflammatory compounds, which help modify my immune response. They also contain enzymes and nutrients to support my body.
Some herbs are known as adaptogens. These are often recommended specifically for physical and emotional stress. Traumatic events oftentimes trigger disease. Alternative health experts will tell you this. Conventional doctors tend to ignore this potential contributing factor. Or, they’ll try to treat your problems with drugs.
Holistic healers, on the other hand, use various herbal blends in an effort to restore balance, and gently nudge your body to start healing. For more than a year, I took Zyflamend, a natural anti-inflammatory formula.
Zyflamend contains 10 medicinal plants. Some of them are adaptogens. Most herbalists believe it’s usually better to take a combination of herbs, for healing, because they work in synergy. This means individual components become more effective.

I don’t want to mislead you, by giving you the impression that any herbal remedy will miraculously restore your health. My own road to recovery involved a comprehensive lifestyle overhaul.
In addition to anti-inflammatory botanicals, I’ve used homeopathy. I eat mostly organic foods, low on saturated animal fat. I rarely eat at restaurants. If I do, I avoid dairy and my gluten intake is limited.
Although I’ll likely have this condition for the rest of my life, at the moment, I’m living pretty much symptom free.
Natural Medicine for Autoimmune Disease
I’m not trying to imply that you’ll have the exact same results. Everyone is different. I’m also not trying to give medical advice or make any claims or promises that any natural remedy will solve your health problems. Instead, I’m just sharing my story to show the healing power of natural remedies.
In the course of my ongoing battle to tame excess inflammation, I’ve used a lot of botanical medicines and I rotate them. Here’s a partial list of some of the other herbal remedies, in addition to the mix of herbs found in Zyflamend, which I’ve taken to address my condition.

Alternative Treatment for Autoimmune Disease
I started using natural remedies since my first symptoms appeared. But my recovery really didn’t start until I took a really drastic step. This involved an overhaul of my diet. I stopped eating junk food and started eating real food. I’m so happy I did this. There was a learning curve. But, now, healthy cooking is second nature.

Thanks for the info. I have walked away from polymyositis 3 times in the last 22 yrs. Each time I also stepped away from conventional meds. I was slow at gaining the knowledge needed to stay away from the whirlpool that continues to suck dry my health, finances and hope. Freedom and hope return each time I gain enough info to turn from conventional drugs, treatments and the big pharma. Thanks for the hope new info gives us.
