Every woman wants to have skin that glows. No matter how old you are, a good complexion will take years off your face.
In my own humble opinion, one of the best ways to achieve this is by eliminating toxins. Eating wholesome organic food and drinking a lot of pure water can eventually yield visible results.
At least that’s what seemed to happen to me. When I cut the junk out of my diet, my complexion improved. My skin has evened out. So I no longer need to cover blotchy patches with foundation. However, I do need to stress that I can’t promise anyone else will see the same results.

In addition to a healthy lifestyle, various natural products are designed to pull toxins out of your skin. One of the best, and easiest, ways to do this is to use natural Bentonite clay as a facial mask.
Naturally Detox Your Face
Along with not putting toxins in your body, it’s important to not put harmful chemicals on your body. Your skin doesn’t keep poisons out of your system. In fact, about 60 percent of anything you apply topically ends up in your bloodstream.
Several years ago, I made a decision to replace all of my cosmetics with plant-based products. I did this reluctantly, and only after developing health problems. But I was pleasantly surprised. Natural cosmetics work better than anything concocted in a laboratory. They also work to nourish your skin and help it to naturally detox. Every so often, just before I shower, I apply pure Bentonite clay mixed with water to my face and let it dry.
After switching to organic foods and using a natural moisturizer (either coconut, olive or grape seed, mixed with various essential oils), my blotchy skin cleared up. All of my adult life, I used foundation to cover up this problem. I was ashamed of my skin. Now I no longer need to wear facial makeup.
I now suspect that chemical products were causing my uneven skin tone. They seemd to strip my skin of its natural oils. Even though I have oily skin, each winter it would start to flake. I’d apply expensive moisturizer, which didn’t help. Now, I’m convinced the ingredients in these products were contributing to my skin problems, instead of solving them.
Benefits of Using Bentonite Clay on Your Skin
If you put good things in your body, and on your body, this will naturally lead to a reduction in toxins. But there’s something else you can do to help the process along. Since ancient times, women have used natural volcanic clay as a beauty aid.
Using Bentonite clay is considered a good way to detox your skin. It contains negatively charged ions that may possibly bind with positively charged toxins.
Clay is an easy way to obtain some of the benefits of a professional facial, at home. It leaves my skin feeling so smooth and soft. Some women also report a reduction in pore size. However, I didn’t notice this myself, so I can’t claim it’s one of the potential benefits. But I do like how clay makes my skin feel. It appears to have an exfoliating action, without the need for any sort of scrubbing.

Different types of natural clay powder are available. They are colored differently, because they come from various parts of the world. Among the most well-known powders are Bentonite, which is a whitish/gray-colored volcanic ash. (There is also a type of green clay powder that comes from France, which works similar to the more popular Bentonite.)
Each type of clay is said to have slightly different healing properties. All of them, however, contain minerals that our skin and bodies need. So clay is nourishing, as well as detoxifying.
The Bentonite clay shown above is named because large deposits exist near Fort Benton in Wyoming. Clay is said to be good for stubborn skin conditions, such as acne and psoriasis. Some people also use it instead of baby powder, as it absorbs moisture.
One Tip: If you have dry skin, it’s probably a good idea to put a layer of olive oil on your face before applying clay. If you have sensitive skin, you may want to wash the clay off after a few minutes, to avoid possible skin irritation.
