Gift baskets make great Christmas presents. They make great birthday and get well gifts too. They come brightly packaged, so they are sure to deliver a lot of cheer.
Cheese and smoked meat are traditionally included in these baskets. Although tasty, many people are trying to watch their waistline, so these are things they want to stay away from.
Others may prefer to avoid genetically modified food, which is next to impossible if you live in the United States and consume anything that’s highly processed. Here, many foods contain GMOs. Unless the label clearly states they don’t, assume that’s the case.

Golden State Fruit sells a large gift basket with different types of pears, apples and oranges, as well as various seasonal fruit. It comes in a strong basket that can be reused.
Fortunately, a handful of companies now sell organic gift baskets brimming with healthy items.
The company, based in California, has been in business for half a decade and is located in the fertile Sacramento Valley.
Golden State gets its fruit from its own orchards, as well as other California growers. A smaller “sampler” is also available. Here are two different types of baskets by Golden State.

Organic Flowering Teas
Organic teas are always appreciated because they are grown without chemical fertilizers, they aren’t sprayed with harmful chemicals and the leaves are not irradiated. Numi, though, takes the tea-drinking experience one step further. The tea leaves are sewn together, and as they sit in the hot water, they expand into beautiful floral designs.
The gift set comes in a mahogany-colored bamboo box, and it includes a clear glass teapot so you can watch the flowers bloom. This was the top selling gourmet gift set on Amazon during the Christmas season of 2010.
The set includes a variety of teas, such as amaranth flower, oolong tea, jasmine, hibiscus and lavender.

Organic Fruit and Candies
Although dark chocolate is good for you, it’s very hard to find some that doesn’t contain soy lecithin. Most soy sold in the United States is made from genetically modified crops and also heavily sprayed with pesticides. Many people do not want to consume GMOs, as evidence mounts that tie them to serious health problems.
Chocolate labeled and certified organic cannot be made with genetically modified ingredients. Golden State Fruit has a combination organic fruit and candy set. It would make the perfect gift for someone who’s health conscious or for parents who don’t want their children eating sweets with GMOs.
California Delicious Gift Basket
The organic gift basket shown below contains an assortment of delicious items, including fruits and almonds. Nearly all of the almonds sold in the United States come from California, which exports billions of dollars worth of these nuts every year.
This gift set contains organic tea, as well as dried strawberries and Mary’s Gone Crackers organic gluten-free brown rice crackers. These are my absolute favorite crackers in the world. They are delicious and filling.
The gift basket also comes with a wooden cutting board and knife, which can be used for years go come.
Giving Healthy Gifts
I like to give my family and friends healthy gifts. Oftentimes, I give the people on my Christmas list pure pink Himalayan salt, which contains minerals and trace elements, something many of us don’t get enough of. Also, many natural health experts believe this salt is much better for you than regular table salt. (Actually, I got rid of all my white table salt after learning more about how it’s made, and how aluminum and other questionable ingredients may be added to it.) That’s why I use natural salt in my house. I also like to tell my readers about this healthier seasoning.
