Plant Therapy essential oils review: The information in this post is based upon my personal experience with Plant Therapy essential oils. I believe this brand is an excellent alternative to the much-hyped multilevel marketing oils.
Everyone who reads this blog regularly knows that Plant Therapy is one of my favorite essential oil companies.
I use these oils in confidence, knowing they’re 100 percent pure. Each batch of oils is tested twice. One test is done by an independent chemist. There’s also separate in-house testing.
Plant Therapy is a family-run business, based in Twin Falls, Idaho. Its products are free of chemicals, pesticides or additives, whether or not they’re labeled organic.
If what you’ve read so far sounds like an ad, I can assure you it’s not. Plant Therapy did not pay me to write this post. Instead, I want to tell my readers about why this company is a good choice in a competitive essential oils environment. I believe it’s important everyone has this information. Essential oils are so amazing. They’ve literally changed my life. For instance, insomnia is no longer a big problem. I struggled with this for years. Now I use essential oils to help me sleep.
Essential oils are also a great natural pain remedy. They contain anti-inflammatory agents. They work so much better than OTC pain medication. They’re a lot safer too.
Because I’m hooked on essential oils, I like to tell others about them. I’d hate to think that people wouldn’t try them just because two MLM companies dominate the landscape.
I started using Plant Therapy essential oils after initially stepping out of the multilevel marketing mindset. I had swallowed the marketing pitch that only certain brands of essential oils are “therapeutic.” Any others are a waste of time. Or so I was told.
I’m happy to report this isn’t the case. Plant Therapy is a good alternative to the MLM oils. A number of other suppliers are as well. Essential oils have been used for hundreds of years. So no one has cornered the market on these natural highly concentrated plant extracts.
Plant Therapy Pure Essential Oils
It is true there are some shady essential oil suppliers. (Also, you have to make sure you don’t get essential oils confused with fragrance oils. The latter are a chemical concoction that may smell okay. But they most likely contain toxic compounds. Fragrance oils are inexpensive. So you may think you’re getting a good deal. But you’re not.
However, there are many good essential oil companies. Plant Therapy is one of them.
As long as essential oils are distilled properly, and sourced from well-grown plants, it’s hard to improve upon what God has created. If you’re still on the fence about venturing outside of the multilevel marketing networks, I say just try what some of these other reputable companies have to offer. Then you can make an informed decision.

Plant Therapy is a company I trust. I love Plant Therapy essential oils. When I first started buying oils, I assumed they always had to come from multi-level marketing companies. But, after my first Plant Therapy purchase, I no longer felt this way.
I was really impressed with the bottle of peppermint essential oil I purchased. So I became a repeat customer. Since then, I’ve purchased a number of Plant Therapy essential oils, including some of the company’s most popular singles. Among the most popular singles is peppermint essential oil. Probably because it has so many uses.
Plant Therapy Lavender Essential Oil Reviews
Plant Therapy lavender essential oil is exquisite. In fact, I think it’s the best-smelling lavender oil I’ve ever used. I’ve tried both the regular lavender essential oil, as well as the company’s USDA-certified organic lavender oil. Both smell incredible. However, the non-organic lavender might even smell a little better.
I trust both versions of lavender essential oil to be 100 percent pure, without contaminants, and just as potent as the multilevel marketing oils being heavily promoted on social media. Plant Therapy oils are third-party tested. So I’m confident they contain nothing harmful, and that they’re strong enough to do the job.
Are Plant Therapy Essential Oils Good Enough?
I cringe when I see others, who happen to sell multilevel marketing oils, tell us that only their brand is going to “work.” How do they arrive at these conclusions? Do they do their own testing? Do they get test results from each company, and then compare? (One unbiased blogger I know did do this. She’s credible. She has my respect.)
Or do they just regurgitate marketing hype? One lie I’ve heard repeated (pretty often) is that non-MLM brand of essential oils are only 5 percent pure? Really? Where do these stories come from. Plant Therapy essential oils are 100 percent essential oil.
Many other brands can claim the same. The bottles they sell contain essential oils. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Is Plant Therapy A Reputable Brand?
Now I have immense respect for this one particular blogger. She does an excellent job overall of telling people how to live toxic free lives. However, she lost me on one of her posts. This post explained why she only buys (and sells) one type of multilevel marketing oil.
She claimed that other brands are as much as 95 percent chemicals. She wanted her oils to work 100 percent of the time. Not just some of the time. Again, I don’t know how she arrived at her conclusion.
Plant Therapy Essential Oils Quality
First of all, Plant Therapy essential oils are 100 percent pure. (So are Edens Garden, Aura Cacia, Natures Fusions and a number of other brands.) But even if they weren’t. How do you decide that your oil will work 100 percent of the time, while other brands will work at a fraction of that? It’s simple. You can’t.
Plant Therapy Essential Oils vs Young Living
Although I believe the MLM networks offer excellent products, I usually prefer to shop elsewhere.
Another thing I like about Plant Therapy is that it puts out straightforward information on why we need to use carrier oils. It’s a really bad idea to apply essential oils directly to our skin. There are several reasons for doing this. One is that aromatics are so highly concentrated that they can irritate your skin. You can also develop sensitivities by using them straight from the bottle.
Because I didn’t know any better, I used essential oils straight from the bottle. I’m really lucky I didn’t end up with a sensitivity. It’s one of those live-and-learn lessons that I like to tell my readers about. So they don’t repeat my mistakes.
Plant Therapy Carrier Oils
Another reason you need a carrier oil is because it helps transport the aromatic oils inside your body. Without this base, an essential oil could evaporate before doing its job. Plant Therapy makes a full line of carrier oils, including pure jojoba oil, often used in natural skin care formulations.
The standard dilution recommended by many aromatherapists is two or three drops of essential oil to one teaspoon of carrier oil. As you can see, this will make your small bottle of oil last a very long time.
Unfortunately, some people who sell essential oils are misinformed. They tell others to put EOs directly on their skin, or to even swallow them. This is very bad advice. There may be certain instances you may be able to consume an oil. But this should only be done while working with a professional aromatherapist.
Plant Therapy Oils Reviews
The first Plant Therapy product I purchased was peppermint oil. This is among the best oils for a beginner to buy, because it’s so versatile. My favorite way to use it is to dilute it and apply it across my forehead when I have a headache. (Or, if I have a neck ache, I rub it into the spot where it hurts.) It works so well that I never need to take over-the-counter pain relievers.
In fact, I don’t even own any OTC pain relievers because I always have peppermint oil in my house. Below you can see Plant Therapy organic peppermint essential oil.

5 Reasons Why I Use Plant Therapy Oils
- I like the fact that this company has been at the forefront of essential oil safety. It explains why you need to use a carrier oil, instead of putting undiluted aromatics directly on your skin. Even though you use less essential oil, it may actually go farther. The carrier helps transport it into your cells. Just so you know, Robert Tisserand is an internationally known expert on essential oil safety. He now works with Plant Therapy.
- Plant Therapy issues a warning on the ingestion of essential oils. At the same time, according to its website, it realizes some of its customers “choose to use our oils internally.” The company strongly urges people to not do this unless they’re working with a well-trained professional, and to not do this on a daily basis. This is much different from the advice we often see by well-meaning sales reps, who advocate drinking and putting essential oils in capsules, regardless of someone’s medical condition or potential for developing a sensitivity. This blanket advice doesn’t take into account possible drug interactions, or the fact that everyone’s metabolism is different.
- The oils are tested for purity. These tests are run twice. An independent lab does one test.
- This is a family-run business with a commitment to quality. It’s becoming one of the best known essential oil companies in America. It’s oils are 100 percent pure.
- These oils are not sold by a multilevel marketing network.

Is Plant Therapy A Good Company?
Everyone is different. We all have different needs. We have different circumstances. My best suggestion is to find a reputable essential oil company that works for you. The main thing is trust. You have to trust the company where you get your oils.
Plant Therapy works for me. However, some people really prefer multilevel marketing brands instead. That’s okay. Whatever works for you. Because we’re all different.
