It’s hard for me to compare Plant Therapy essential oils with Aura Cacia. That’s because these are two of the brands I use the most.
Many of the oils in my collection come from one of these companies. In my own humble opinion, I believe they’re among the best alternatives to the MLM oils.
My first aromatherapy purchase was through a multilevel marketing rep. I was pleased with my bottle of frankincense. For awhile, I was under the impression that MLM was the only way to go, if you wanted a high-quality oil.
Non MLM Essential Oil Companies
Now I know better. Because I wanted to build an aromatherapy collection, right away, I started looking for alternatives. People were saying good things about Plant Therapy, so I decided to give it a try.
My first bottle of peppermint essential oil arrived quickly. It greatly exceeded my expectations. It had a strong clear smell. As far as I’m concerned, peppermint oil is one of the most useful and versatile aromatic oils. It’s one I want in my house, at all times.
What I do is dilute a few drops of peppermint oil in a carrier oil, such as pure grapeseed oil. Then I apply it to my temples and forehead. While I can’t promise this will work for anyone else, this is all I use when a headache hits. Below are three of Plant Therapy’s most popular USDA-certified organic singles.

How Pure are Plant Therapy Oils?
Because I was so happy with my Plant Therapy peppermint oil, I started buying different varieties. My curiosity was peaked. I began researching this company. What I discovered assured me I could safely step outside the MLM sales model, in order to build my essential oil collection.
Plant Therapy runs two purity tests on its oils. One of these is done by a third-party independent tester. Recently, this company has began certifying its own line of essential oils. It also works with one of the world’s leading aromatherapy experts on its line of KidSafe oils. I have complete confidence in this brand, and I love to tell my readers about it.
Are Aura Cacia Essential Oils Pure?
I also own a fairly large collection of Aura Cacia essential oils. This is another brand I totally trust. It has a longer history than most aromatherapy companies. It started selling essential oils back in the 1982, long before most of us even knew what aromatherapy was.
At the moment, I own at least a dozen different kinds of Aura Cacia oils. They are widely available online, from many different sources.
Aura Cacia Guarantees Purity
Aura Cacia guarantees the purity of its oils. I feel this is very important, especially if you’re buying them for personal use. (If I plan to use an aromatic product for general household cleaning, or pest control, I’m a lot less fussy.)
The fact that a company guarantees purity is huge. That’s because of abuses in the industry. At the moment, essential oils are hugely popular. The potential for profit attracts the unscrupulous. Unfortunately, the problem of essential oil fraud has been widely reported. So, knowing what I know about Aura Cacia oils, I feel very comfortable recommending this brand to my readers.
In addition to peppermint, lavender essential oil is another aromatic I always want in my house. It has so many uses. At night, I often sprinkle a few drops on a tissue, which I place by my pillow. Lavender has a reputation as a natural sleep aid. I’ve also been really happy with Aura Cacia’s other offerings, such as the lemongrass oil you see here. It smells exquisite, with a number of undertones.

Plant Therapy vs Aura Cacia
If you’re wondering whether you should buy Plant Therapy oils, or you should go with Aura Cacia, I have to tell you that I think it’s pretty much a toss up. Both companies have excellent products. Most of the oils I own now come from one or the other. Whether you should choose one or other seems largely a matter of personal preference.
However, there are a couple of factors that might make your decision easier. I’ll explain below.
- Plant Therapy has some excellent Synergy Blends. These are recipes designed for specific conditions, such as stress relief, pain relief or germ fighting. Aura Cacia has blends as well, but, from what I can tell, not quite as many selections as Plant Therapy. The advantage of these blends is that it’s believed that using multiple oils together creates a more powerful synergy. Plant Therapy also has a line of essential oils specifically blended with children in mind, created by a world famous aromatherapy expert.
- Aura Cacia oils are much more widely available. Plant Therapy, on the other hand, is sold online from a relatively limited number of retailers.
