Recently, I placed my first order with Pureformulas, an online health store based in Miami.
I absolutely love this company, and hope to do a lot more business with them.
I’m used to getting my supplements and organic foods elsewhere. So I didn’t know what to expect. But Pureformulas has been getting good online reviews. So I decided to try it myself.
Herbs, supplements and essential oils are something I buy a lot of. I try to live a relatively toxic-free lifestyle. That’s partly because I suffer from potentially crippling nerve inflammation. Eating a clean diet, and using natural remedies, has greatly reduce my symptoms, to the point where I live a pretty normal life.
However, I don’t want my disease to take over my life. I work full time and I have a family. So I look for convenience when I’m shopping for supplements. Price is also a factor. Since I buy so many natural items, I don’t like to spend more than I need to.
Pureformulas sells discount natural items. Plus, every order is shipped free, no matter how large or how small. Returns are free as well. But I have no desire to return the items I just purchased.
Pureformulas Products
According to Crunchbase, which keeps data on startups, Pureformulas was founded in 2010 and has between 51 and 100 employees. I’ve heard varying estimates on the number of products Pureformulas carries. I wasn’t able to find the exact number on the site. Crunchbase says it has 24,000 different items for sale.
The variety is not quite as extensive as competitor Vitacost, which has more than 45,000 items. But just about everything you need, in terms of staying healthy, could probably be found at Pureformulas.
I’ve just placed my second Pureformulas order, and I’ll be shopping there again. I love the low prices, free shipping and generous rewards program. You earn one point for every dollar spent. First-time customers are also given points just for signing up.
In addition to herbs and supplements, the online selections are broken down into different specialty stores, including Beauty and Personal Care, Fitness, Food and Pet Care.

Pureformulas also sells essential oils, which I use on a daily basis. It carries oils from both Now Foods and Aura Cacia. I’ve purchased oils from both companies, and I’ve been really pleased with the quality. Here are a couple of Aura Cacia essential oil selections you can find at Pureformulas.

Homeopathic Remedies at Pureformulas
Pureformulas seems to have a good selection of homeopathic remedies. So I’ll definitely keep this company in mind when I need a remedy. Because I already own a lot of remedies, I sometimes need a particular random remedy in a specific potency. This is where Pureformulas shines. You can order just a single remedy, and shipping is free. It carries both Hylands and Boiron remedies.
Pureformulas Organic Coconut Oil
I don’t know how long Pureformulas has been selling private-label products, similar to what you’ll find at Vitacost and Swansons. I did notice, recently, that it now has a number of products bearing Pureformulas label. One of these is virgin organic coconut oil. This is something we use a lot of in our house because it’s a healthy oils. It’s an excellent choice to use for stir frying, because it doesn’t break down easily and form toxic compounds, even at a high heat.
This is a very good price for 12-ounces of pure coconut oil, especially if you factor in the free shipping. I’d pay much less buying the Pureformulas brand, than I would if I purchased the same amount of oil in my local grocery store. Plus, it would be delivered right to my door.

Supplements at Pureformulas
Pureformulas carries the major brands you’d expect to find at an online health store. These include Now, Thorne Research, American Nutriceuticals, Biogenesis Nutriceuticals, Christopher’s Original Formulas, Dr. Mercola, Dr. Jacobs Naturals, Gaia, HerbPharm, Kirkman, Native Remedies, Schiff, Twinlab and many more.
But you might be interested in the house brand as well. Because I take so many remedies, I often buy house brands. I spend a lot on natural remedies, and holistic healthcare. So if I can save money on a product from a house label I trust, that’s what I’ll do.
Pureformulas Brand CoQ10
I tend to take whole herbs, rather than supplements. But I make an exception for CoQ1o, a vitamin-like substance that decreases in our bodies as we age. It works as an antioxidant and a natural anti-inflammatory. If I forget to take it, I quickly remember. That’s because within a day, my nerve inflammation tends to flare up.
Here is the Pureformulas brand of CoQ10, which also contains red yeast extract. Some people use red yeast to naturally lower their cholesterol.
Many people also take fish oil to reduce excess inflammation, which is what natural health experts believe makes us sick in the first place. The Pureformulas fish oil shown here is made from sardines, mackerel and anchovies caught off the Chilean coast. It is extracted with carbon dioxide to reduce contaminants.

Most online health food stores also carry a selection of pet products. Apparently, many people concerned with their own health also want natural foods, treats and supplements for their animals. (I know I fall into that category.) Pureformulas carries what seems to be a good selection of natural pet supplies, for dogs, cats and horses.
Immune and digestive supplements for dogs appear to be very popular right now. Here is a popular powder that contains spirulina and herbs. However, always check with your vet before giving your pet a supplement and discontinue if it doesn’t seem to improve your dog’s health.

All in all, my experience shopping at Pureformulas was very positive and I’ll definitely be buying again. I don’t plan to abandon my regular online health food store, but I do plan to add Pureformulas to the mix. The free shipping is too good to pass up. The only complaint I have is that some of the items I want are not always in stock. I chalk this up to growing pains. The website notes that 65 percent of its orders come from repeat customers. (So, count me in.)
