    Sun Basket Food Delivery Reviews

    Sun Basket food delivery reviews

We finished our first order of Sun Basket last weekend. I’m still excited about this organic food delivery service. So I wanted to write a follow up to my last blog post.

Disclosure: Sun Basket sent me three free meals for two in order to write a review for this organic food delivery service. But all thoughts and opinions are my own. (This post contains affiliate links, and if you purchase a product I receive a commission, at no extra cost to you.)

I was so happy to find Sun Basket. That’s because I have a chronic nerve disease. My symptoms, though, are well controlled. I eat real food, and, whenever possible, I make sure it’s organic. My health has improved so much, ever since I’ve overhauled my diet.

Eating right, IMHO, is a small price to pay for feeling better. Even though I use a lot of natural remedies, including a special essential oil blend designed for pain relief, I’m convinced these wouldn’t work that well if I continued eating junk food.

This means I do most of my cooking from scratch. I need to limit my restaurant meals, because they contain genetically modified ingredients. Although this hasn’t been proven, there’s mounting evidence that GMOs can fuel chronic inflammation, and cause other health problems. If you’d like more information on Sun Basket, click on the image below.

Sun Basket Food Delivery Service Reviews

Naturally, I was thrilled to discover Sun Basket. I plan to place another order, because it’s the easiest way I know of to get restaurant quality meals, minus the GMOs. (Unless a restaurant serves USDA-certified organic food, and it says so on the menu, it’s a safe bet the meal contains genetically modified ingredients.)

People are busy. I’m busy too. I work full time (blogging) and I need to find time to put healthy meals on the table. That’s why I’m so happy to have help with meal prep. When I’m not using Sun Basket, I can rely upon another incredible meal planning service called Real Plans. This clean eating planner gives you a week’s worth of healthy meals, as many as you want, along with a grocery list. Real Plans is designed to save time and money, as well as unexpected runs to the store because you forgot an item you needed.

    Sun Basket vs Real Plans

Sun Basket meals probably cost more than meals made from scratch, using Real Plans. But having Sun Basket deliver a box of food to your door is the ultimate convenience.

    Sun Basket Gluten Free Meals

My nerve condition has responded well to a gluten-free, dairy-free diet. Fortunately, Sun Basket does have gluten-free selections that don’t require milk, and they’re delicious.

Our first meal was stuffed acorn squash. This was a vegan option. I wanted to try at least one vegan entree because my daughter doesn’t eat meat. The squash was stuffed with shallots and grapes. We didn’t add the goat cheese because she’s vegan and I try to avoid all milk products.

Our second meal was paleo Burmese chicken. It tasted as good as anything we’d order at a Southeast Asian restaurant. I love Southeast Asian food, and our third meal of Thai beef didn’t disappoint. (You can see this meal in the photo above. I made it in an oversized cast iron pan.)

The acorn squash was just enough for two. The other two dishes were very generous. I was able to stretch the Thai beef to feed three of us (my son was home from college) and there was even some left over for another small meal. My son and my husband are big eaters too.

Meal delivery services, I believe, are an absolute blessing for people who want to eat better, but don’t have a lot of time to cook. Preparing a Sun Basket meal is infinitely easier than shopping and cooking. Each meal comes in a paper bag that you can refrigerate until needed. The precut meat is packaged separately. I hate cutting raw meat, especially when I’m tired, or don’t have a lot of time.

    Sun Basket Meals Cost

Ordering meals from Sun Basket, we figured, is less expensive than going to a Thai restaurant and ordering a meal. (Plus, we avoided those nasty GMOs.) Each Sun Basket meal at the I wrote this article costs $11.49. But you can get $35 off your first order, if you’d like to try it.

Our Sun Basket Meals were designed for two. If you have a larger family, you can order for four.

How Much Does Sun Basket Cost?

One of our meals (the acorn squash), as I mentioned earlier, was only enough for two. But if you knew what was coming, and planned ahead, buying just one more acorn squash at the store would easily allow you to stretch the meal to feed four, at a cost of only about $5.75 per meal, plus the price of the one additional squash.

The two stir fry dishes we received could be easily stretched for feed four, especially if you used a little extra rice. (The Burmese chicken was a paleo entree, and didn’t come with rice.)

    Sun Basket Recipes

Anyway, the Sun Basket meals were absolutely delicious. My husband rated the Thai beef dish a 10. He also loved the Burmese chicken with Japanese sweet potatoes. I rate the chicken dish a 10 and the beef dish an 8 or 9. The taste was incredible, but the beef was a little tough.

In the future, we do plan to order from Sun Basket again. For someone like me, who’s trying to avoid GMOs, it’s infinitely better than getting takeout. There is some meal prep. But having your meat chopped, and having brightly colored recipe cards to guide you make it easy, and kind of fun.

The recipes along with all the ingredients are included on recipe cards. I saved my cards, and plan to cook these dishes again, even if I don’t have a current Sun Basket order, since they’re so easy to replicate.

    Sun Basket Introductory Offer

Sun Basket is one of the few organic meal delivery services available. Every day, or so it seems, I learn about a similar service. But most of the meals contain GMOs. The cost of Sun Basket meals is about the same as the other companies, which don’t offer organic options. So this is the meal delivery service I’ve decided to use myself. It’s also the one I’m recommending to my readers, who want some help putting health meals on the table. Click on the link below for more information, or to get $35 off of your first order.
