Homeopathic remedies are extremely safe, as long as they’re used properly.
This means carefully matching the remedy to a person’s state.
It also means using a potency that resonates with a person.
And, of course, not giving more doses than necessary.
As long as you follow these rules homeopathy can be a game changer for your family.
You’ll notice how quickly your loved ones heal from the common cold and from the nastiest flu.
Well-chosen remedies can speed the healing process and take the edge off of pain and suffering.
You’ll want to tell everyone you know about homeopathy, an amazing method of healing, created more than 230 years ago by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, MD, a German physician.
Dr. Hahnemann became disillusioned with the practice of medicine in his day.
Homeopathic remedies are extremely inexpensive.
Once you see how well they work there’s no unseeing it.
Homeopathy is all natural, and it doesn’t involve drugs with potentially dangerous side effects.
The only catch is that it has to be used properly, or else you won’t see the benefits.
This is where careful matching comes in.
During an acute illness the wrong remedy can cause the person to feel even sicker, and it can create new symptoms.
(You can read more about acute illnesses here, and how they differ from chronic conditions.)
But have no fear. A better-matching remedy can quickly turn things around.
The problem, though, is that too many ill-chosen remedies are often given.
At least judging by some of the social media posts.
It’s not unusual to see Moms give their children multiple remedies, along with products such as Oscillicoccinum, as well as various cold and flu combos.
I read about this in various Facebook groups and I see it in real life.
Trust me, if several poorly matched remedies are given repeatedly you usually end up with a pretty sick kid.
Parents often contact me in hopes of turning things around, and usually I can, with a well-matching remedy.
(I also make it crystal clear that if I can’t do this quickly then they need to bring their child to the nearest emergency room.)
What Happens If You Take The Wrong Homeopathic Remedy?
Let me tell you about when my children were little.
(They’re now young adults.)
When they were sick I knew a remedy was working if they started to get better. This means it was a good match.
However, ill-matching remedies were a different story.
I knew pretty quickly the choice was wrong.
Instead of signs of health they’d feel worse.
The right remedy would get them up off the couch, and they’d soon want something to eat.
The wrong remedy made them sink further into the illness.
Fevers would rise and their vitality would plummet, and this was a horrible thing to watch.
However, fortunately, I had a good homeopath to help. (This was before I went to homeopathy school.)
If my first two choices were wrong, I quickly called her.
She’d help me find the right remedy and healing would commence.
Having a trusted homeopath whom I could call if needed helped us avoid countless rounds of antibiotics.
Will Anything Happen If I Take The Wrong Homeopathic Remedy?
Homeopathy is once again becoming popular in the West. (In India and in other parts of the world it’s been widely used since its inception.)
However, more education is desperately needed.
Instruction is needed to counter the widespread myth that since homeopathy is all natural it doesn’t matter what remedy you take, because the body will just disregard it. So, therefore, you can take as many remedies as you want and recommend them freely to others, regardless of whether they fit the case.
Yet nothing could be further from the truth.
Each remedy sends instructions to the body. A well-matching remedy tells it to heal.
A ill matching remedy will also send the Vital Force in a certain direction, although not necessarily the right one.
Repeated doses compound this error.
Problems arise when too many poor choices are given. Instead of healing, you’ll likely see new symptoms.
Giving repeated doses of single remedies, plus repeated doses of combination potentized product, plus throwing some Oscillicoccinum in the mix, will likely result in a muddy mess of a case.
It’s at this point that parents often rush the child to Urgent Care because he or she is so sick.
Instead, a much better approach would be to use a well-matching remedy much earlier in the course of an illness.
This is an area where increased education would be very helpful.
We should encourage Moms to take courses on home prescribing.
This increases the chances of finding a good remedy match, on the first or second try.
If a Mom doesn’t find the right remedy, first two tries, she should be encouraged to work with a professional.
This approach, I’m convinced, would greatly reduce the number of Urgent Care visits.
You will hear statements such as “homeopathy is safe and nothing will happen if you take the wrong remedy.”
But that’s only partially true. I’ll explain why below.
- In this article I am only talking about what happens if you give the wrong remedy during an acute illness. This is when a person’s vitality is low and they’re struggling to recover from an infection. The person is already sick and giving repeated doses (or sometimes just one dose) of the wrong remedy can make them even sicker. It’s very important to find a well-matching remedy.
- Most people (including the most sensitive among us) can take usually ONE dose of a 30C or 200C potency remedy and suffer no ill effect when they’re not fighting an acute illness, even if it’s not the right remedy. (Repeated doses though could cause an aggravation.)
- Some kids are just hardier than others. They can better withstand multiple doses of the wrong remedy. But everyone has their breaking point.
- Remember that homeopathic remedies only work if they match the state of the person taking them.
