Essential oils are something I use everyday. They’ve helped me so much. So, naturally, I love talking and writing about them.
Because I believe these aromatics have the potential to help so many other people, I like to share ways that make it possible for everyone to own at least a few different types of oils.
Finding Quality Essential Oils

In building my own collection, I’ve ventured outside of the large MLM networks. I purchased some of the other brands sold more directly, such as Plant Therapy, Aura Cacia and Edens Garden.
How have essential oils improved my life?
For one, they seem to have banished my insomnia, something that has plagued me for decades. Please understand that I’m not making claims they’ll do the same for anyone else, but here is my story.
My insomnia started when I was fresh out of college and working as a newspaper reporter.
Unfortunately, I’d often have to work until well into the early morning. Then, I’d have to drive home, a 45-minute commute. Many nights, by the time I finally got to sleep, everyone else was getting up for work.
I had trouble sleeping in the daytime. Every little noise seemed to wake me up.
My sleep problems greatly improved after I got married and settled into a daytime routine. Most nights I got enough rest. But I could never count on it.
At least not until I discovered essential oils. They’ve been so useful that I want to share with you information on how you can easily build your own collection.
Essential Oils that Help You Sleep
Essential oils have been a lifesaver at night. Now, at night, I sprinkle a few drops of oil on my sheet or on my pillowcase. Certain aromatic oils, such as lavender, seem to contain natural tranquilizers. So I go to bed with full confidence they’ll help me get the rest I need.
I’m convinced that a huge part of my problem was worrying that I’d end up staying awake. This very thought prevented me from sleeping. I’d lie in bed thinking of all the things I needed to do the next day. Consequently, I couldn’t sleep. I believe essential oils helped put an end to this vicious cycle.
What Kind of Essential Oil Should I Buy?
There are numerous suppliers of essential oils. Two of the best known are Young Living and doTerra. These companies sell their oils through independent distributors. Some people don’t prefer to shop this way. If you don’t, there are other options.
A number of companies, including Plant Therapy, Aura Cacia and others, sell more directly to the consumer. This cuts out potentially several layers of middlemen. In recent years, I’ve gotten most of my oils from these two non-MLM companies. For my purposes, especially for help with sleep, they’ve worked really well.
During the day, I also use different essential oils to help me focus or concentrate on a difficult task. The brands I buy seem to do the job just fine.
I also use a certain essential oil blend designed to fight infections, purchased from a non MLM company. Here is Plant Therapy’s Germ Fighter, sold by a family-run business based in Idaho. Plant Therapy oils are 100 percent pure. They are tested twice to make sure they contain no contaminants. One test is run by an outside lab.

Where Do You Get Essential Oils?
For most other run-of-the-mill problems, I don’t shop the MLM networks. For instance, lavender oil is often recommended for people who have trouble relaxing and falling asleep. Plant Therapy organic lavender smells exquisite, and has helped me get good night’s rest.

This is a highly concentrated oil, and a little goes a long way. As I mentioned earlier, I put a few drops on my pillow or sheet at the top of the bed.
Peppermint from Aura Cacia
Peppermint oil is very effective against headaches. I’ve used a number of brands, which I haven’t had to purchase through multilevel marketing sources. Among these are Aura Cacia, one of the best quality oils on the market. For me, just a little bit of diluted peppermint oil on my forehead or temples brings safe and fast relief. However, I can’t promise it will do the same for anyone else. But it works really well for me.

Young Living Sacred Frankincense Oil
Some people use essential oils when they are seriously ill. Although the mainstream medical community, in general, doesn’t tend to put much stock in these highly concentrated plant extracts, which have been used for centuries to treat various diseases, it seems as if a growing number of people are using them, judging by the anecdotal reports found on the Internet.
Acting on the advice of aromatherapists, or other holistic health experts, they are apparently using essential oils as an alternative to pharmaceuticals or as a complimentary treatment. There is some mainstream medical interest into the healing potential of aromatics as well.
Right now, research is ongoing into the cancer-fighting potential of frankincense oil. One brand that’s being investigated at the University of Oklahoma is Young Living. That’s because researcher HK Lin, PhD., has found that Young Living Frankincense gives more consistent results than some of the other brands he’s tried.
Please understand that I’m not implying that this or any other aromatic oil is a cure for cancer, since much more research is needed. I’m simply passing along information that’s readily available on the Internet.
