I buy my herbs and spices online, unless I need something immediately. That’s because I can usually get a better price on the Internet, shopping at one of the large virtual health food stores.

One of my favorite places to shop is Vitacost, because it sells 45,000 healthy items at a discount.
Also, since I’m buying from such a large retailer, there’s a lot of turnover. So it’s highly possible the herbs and spices you order online will have a longer shelf life, compared to what you’ll find at the grocery store.
I buy organic herbs and spices. That’s because I want to know they’re not irradiated or grown with potentially harmful pesticides or herbicides.
Buying Discount Herbs Online
When I’m cooking, I try to use these spices liberally, as people have probably been doing probably since the beginning of time. In addition to making food taste better, these medicinal plants offer protective health benefits.
Scientists are just beginning to understand that many of our everyday spices, such as turmeric and ginger, appear to contain powerful natural anti-inflammatory compounds. God has provided us with so many healing plants. Never before have we had as much easy access to herbs and spices from around the world.
Where to Buy Herbs Spices Online
Anyway, I buy nearly all of my spices online. Right now, the online health and grocery store I use the most is Vitacost. This company carries all of the items that you’d normally find at your local health food store.
With Vitacost, you usually need a minimum purchase of $49 to qualify for free shipping. However, Vitacost has such a large selection of groceries that I always buy enough to not pay extra for shipping.
Where To Buy Simply Organic Spices
Vitacost carries USDA-certified organic herbs and spices from some of the best known suppliers, including Starwest Botanicals and Frontier Co-op, the umbrella company for both Frontier and Simply Organic spices.
It also offers deep discounts every day. Vitacost runs regular specials in which you can save anywhere from 10 to 20 percent off of their already low prices.
Although I like to support small local businesses, the reality is that it’s much more convenient and much less expensive to shop online.
Plus, you can find a much larger selection of certain brands, such as Frontier brand organic spices. I can’t always find what I’m looking for in my local brick-and-mortar stores. Also, I personally believe high-volume selling means it’s more likely the spices are fresh.
Organic Bulk Herbs Free Shipping
If you use a lot of herbs, either in cooking or for medicinal purposes, you may want to buy them in bulk. This is a money-saving move, unless you end up buying more than you need.
Vitacost carries a full range of organic dried herbs from Starwest Botanicals, a company known for its high-quality products. This company is now one of the leading suppliers of organic herbs in the United States.
Where To Buy Organic Foods
When I first started eating organic foods, using organic spices and taking natural remedies and supplements, I spent a lot of time running around the different stores, so I could get everything I needed.
Nowadays, I’ve greatly streamlined this process. Much of my shopping is done online. At first, I thought I’d be paying more money for this convenience. But I’m actually saving money. I can usually find better prices online. Plus, I’m saving a lot in gas, as well as time.
At Vitacost, I can find pretty much anything I need in terms of healthy items. Online is also where I buy a special whole herb supplement I take nearly every day to help relieve my chronic nerve inflammation.
Because of the widespread practice of isolating single plant components, it’s not always easy to find whole herbal capsules.
Where To Buy Organic Herbs
Many herbalists take issue with single-component extracts, because of the distinct possibility you’re not deriving all of the benefits of the entire plant. There may be yet-to-be-identified active ingredients you’re missing out on, by consuming an isolate. Or, there may be added benefits to taking something in which all of the ingredients work in synergy.
In any event, because whole herbs have been used for thousands of years. Isolates are relatively new, I’ve decided that, whenever possible, I’m only going to recommend whole herbs on this site.
One of the companies I love to recommend is Oregon’s Harvest.
Oregon’s Wild Harvest is a family-run business that sells a wide range of whole, organic herbal remedies.
My favorite formula from this company is Stress Guard, which contains herbs plus natural B-complex vitamins. I take it periodically, when stress overwhelms.
Where To Buy Herb Pharm Herbs
Herb Pharm is another of my favorites. I have very fond memories of using its tinctures when my children were little. Both of them were sickly, so we needed to work with a homeopath, in order to get their immune systems working again. She strongly recommended herbal tinctures, in addition to homeopathic remedies. Herb Pharm was the brand we used.
If you’re not familiar with this company, it’s also based on Oregon. The herbs it uses grow on an organic farm located near its production facility. Even though the plants that go into these formulas are grown organically, they’re still screened for a wide range of contaminants, according to the Herb Pharm website.
Vitacost sells a large selection of Herb Pharm products.
