    Where To Buy Marjoram Oil

July 28, 2015 in Essential Oils

where to buy marjoram oilSweet marjoram essential oil has many potential benefits. It’s among one of the more versatile aromatics. If you’re starting or growing an essential oil collection, this is definitely one of the essences you may want to consider.

Medicinally, marjoram has been used for centuries as a digestive aid. Some people confuse this herb with oregano, but it’s different than the pungent spice often sprinkled on pizza. The two plants belong to the same family. But this herb is much milder than oregano, so it’s often referred to as “sweet marjoram.” The liquid in my bottle of marjoram oil smells more like lavender than a common Italian seasoning.

Sweet marjoram essential oil is believed to have wide-ranging effects upon the body. That’s why some holistic healers may recommend it as an overall health tonic. However, this does not mean ingesting it, even though we eat herbal marjoram. Essential oils are highly concentrated. So instead of consuming them, we can derive their benefits by using them on our skin. The medicinal compounds can also reach our bloodstream by inhalation. That’s why many of us who use essential oils often put them in a diffuser.

Just like the herb from which it’s derived, it’s thought this oil can strengthen the digestive process. One way it may do this is by stimulating the production of digestive juices and enzymes. This can potentially help reduce inflammation by breaking down undigested bits of food that release toxins.

Anything that potentially helps reduce your toxic burden will also help with chronic inflammation. Most alternative health experts believe excess inflammation is the culprit behind arthritis, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and just about every other degenerative illness.

    Marjoram Essential Oil Use

Marjoram oil is considered a good remedy if you have any type of pain. It’s thought to have natural analgesic compounds, so it can be used to massage aching and swollen joints. It brings fast relief, and holds great benefit for people with arthritis. Used properly, it’s probably a lot safer than over-the-counter pain relievers. Correct use would be to dilute it with a carrier oil before massaging it into the skin. The standard ratio is 3 drops of essential oil to one teaspoon of a bland carrier oil, such as olive or grapeseed oil.

If you suffer from nerve pain, as I do, marjoram essential oil might be something to look into. Just before writing this, I used a mix of marjoram and eucalyptus to relieve mild nerve pain. (Several years ago, I was crippled by a severe nerve disease. With the help of natural remedies, I can walk again, and my excruciating pain has gone away. Mild discomfort is easily relieved with essential oils.) Anyway, this blend worked right away.

As an added bonus, marjoram is considered a good nerve tonic. So, in addition to the pain relief, I’m hoping it strengthened my nervous system.

Marjoram essential oil may also be helpful if you suffer from hay fever. Its pungent, soothing scent seems to dry up the congestion.

This is also an oil you may want to have on hand during cold and flu season. It contains powerful compounds that might help fight viral infections. Marjoram oil is often found in aromatic sleep blends because it has soothing qualities.

    Where to Buy Marjoram Oil

I bought my marjoram essential oil from Fabulous Frannie, a small company based in California, and I was pleased with my purchase. I’m a repeat Fabulous Frannie customer, even though I own oils from a number of different companies. It’s not true that you need to buy your essential oils from MLM distributors.

Another brand I can highly recommend is Plant Therapy. This is where I’ve bought a lot of my oils, and I’ve never been disappointed. I know they’re potent and pure. They’re tested twice. One time in house. The second test is run by a third party. I use Plant Therapy oils on my skin, diluted with a carrier oil. If I didn’t believe they were pure, I’d never do this.

Because I have a chronic health condition, kept under control with a healthy diet and natural remedies, I buy a lot of herbs and essential oils. I’ve found that rotating these remedies makes them more effective.
