Where to Buy Organic Garden Soil

    January 23, 2016 in Non-Toxic Lifestyle

where to buy organic garden soilAs soon as spring hits, people turn their attention to gardening.

One advantage of growing your own food is that it provides a relatively inexpensive way to enjoy a bounty of vegetables, which aren’t raised with herbicides and pesticides.

It also allows you to avoid eating foods raised with chemical fertilizers. These potential health risks of these products may be underestimated, according to the late Dr. Jozsef Beres, PhD., who devoted his life to exploring the link between modern farming practices and poor health.

    Benefits of Organic Gardening

After reading about his work, I now have a much better understanding of and appreciation for natural organic gardening soil.

Plant grown with artificial fertilizers may look healthy. But they’re more susceptible to disease, because they weren’t raised in soil that contained the correct proportion of nutrients, if you believe the research of Dr. Beres.

He theorized that chemical fertilizers, which contain a preponderance of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus, crowd out the trace minerals. The absence of these vital nutrients can set the conditions for disease.

In the years following World War II, Dr. Beres noticed that cancer rates shot up in Hungary, where he lived.

Dr. Beres noted this spike started when farmers strayed from traditional methods, and began relying upon chemicals.

Once I stumbling upon Dr. Beres’ work, I realized that avoiding pesticides and herbicides may not be enough. Healthy soil appears to be more important than many of us realize.

    Black Gold Potting Soil Review

Dr Beres was convinced that chemical fertilizers are bad for us. He thought it was very important to use the right soil, along with a good organic fertilizer. This would yield produce that contains all of the micro-nutrients our body needs.

The potential connection between soil and health was discovered because of sick potatoes. Dr Beres studied the differences between organic and chemically grown potatoes. The latter looked healthy. But they were much more likely to become diseased.

After observing the potatoes, he theorized that human health was suffering as well.

Then, he uncovered another fact. People living closest to farms, where the new fertilizers were used, had a greater risk of cancer than those who lived farther away.

When I first started gardening, I didn’t use pesticides. But I did use a chemical fertilizer. This is something I wouldn’t do again. Please understand that I’m not a licensed healthcare professional. So I can’t give medical advice, or imply that any type of garden product will keep you healthy or prevent disease.

Black Gold Potting Soil shown below will provide more natural garden conditions. So you can grow and consume potentially healthier plants. This soil mix has added perlite and pumice, volcanic matter that helps to aerate your soil. Organic fertilizer and nutrient-dense earthworm castings are also included.

This rich soil can be used in raised garden beds, or in containers, as well as in hanging herb and vegetable planters. Please note that the soil mix is formulated for specific regions of the United States. The type shown below is made specifically for the Western parts of the country.

    Chemical Fertilizer Dangers

As I mentioned earlier, Dr. Beres theorized that chemical fertilizers caused plants to absorb a preponderance of certain nutrients, such as nitrogen and potassium. However, they did this at the expense of trace minerals and micro nutrients.

Later in his career, Dr. Beres conducted clinical trials. He also developed a dietary supplement designed to replace what was no longer found in the food chain. This supplement came to be known as “Beres Drops.” During his lifetime, it was used as a natural cancer treatment.

These drops are well known in Europe and are still taken by millions of people as a health tonic, and as a preventative measure against disease.

    Advantages of Natural Fertilizers

Using a fertilizer that contains the correct balance of nutrients will yield a harvest that is nutritionally balanced.

This is one of the biggest benefits of eating organic, aside from the fact you’re reducing your toxic overall burden, by eliminating pesticides.
